In the market for a new cell phone...

So I'm not 100% on the s8. It's a fantastic phone, but I'm not sure if it's 'me', and I don't love the curved screen. I have until Friday to decide if I'm going to keep it, until my 15 days full return are up.

Advice: If you get a phone with a curved screen, don't get a protector that only seals around the edges (as the official Samsung one does). You will have extremely limited touch sensitivity along the edges, which makes using certain letters (such as 'a') difficult while texting.

This is why I didn’t want an S8 or the S7 Edge. I like the more traditional flat screen.

The edge phones are nice if you're watching videos. I basically use my phone for internet, texting, and calls, along with apps like instagram and facebook. I don't use it to watch youtube, or play games or anything like that.

I'm really considering returning it and going back to an iPhone. Nothing against the phone - it's a wonderful phone, but if I don't stick with the s8, I'd go to an s7 if I stayed with Samsung, which is already 2 years old, and Samsung isn't making them anymore.

I might go to an iPhone 8.

Biggest downside is that I'd traded in my old phone to get some $ off this one, right from the samsung store. But now that it's traded in, I don't get that phone and its value back, so I'm essentially out $150.

My husband splurged on Google Pixel 2 phones for us for Christmas. They seem pretty nice so far. I guess they're supposed to have quite a nice camera. I haven't had a chance to take many pictures yet, but the ones I've taken are good.

Before that we had Nexus 5 phones, I think. The camera on the Google Pixel is definitely much better than on the Nexus 5. And the screen is bigger, too; but not too big.

iPhones were never an option, as my husband resists all things Apple. ETA: Which is not to say I couldn't've gotten an iPhone if I wanted--it's just that I don't really care that much, one way or another. So am more than happy with the Pixel.
