IceChallenge 2025 (Nov 5-9) Graz AUT

Liu/Bedard she was under on SBS 3s and only SBS 2t-1a-1a for the sequence. Fall on th3s. They have a nice smooth glide across the ice, lilting quality.
I don't think she got called for the SBS 3s - it was never marked for review while the tech tracker was on screen before their marks came up and the TES didn't drop.

Why is it too late? Jimmy and Torg bombed again today. Tomoki has just now gotten his stuff together a little bit. Any good performance can help at this point.
I suppose, but this isn't even a Challenger comp so it won't count for SB.

I'm just over the US guys who haven't ever managed to deliver consistently over the course of one season let along a couple of seasons. At this point, I'm rooting for Tomoki because he has found some consistency this season, even if his scores aren't going to get him into the top 10 at most major comps.

Max has had his ups and downs in international events, but at least he’s always shown up for Nats - three straight pewter medals and never finishing lower than 5th. I know that’s not in the official criteria, but it’s nice cred to have. For Max to even be out there in this shape is incredible.

Sorry, but showing up and doing well at Nats isn't enough anymore. And the USFS has made that clear since 2018 when they left Ross Miner off the Olympic team.

What is incredible is that people seem to think that being on the ice and competing at this level is incredible for Max due to his personal circumstances. Sure, last spring, I'd have agreed, but we're 9 months on from the tragic death of his parents and nothing about his skating this fall is different from a year ago or two years ago when his parents were alive. I don't buy into the notion that his personal tragedy should curry special consideration for him given that it certainly hasn't impacted who he always has been as a competitor.

Ross hadn’t medaled at Nats in five years when he finished 2nd in 2018. It didn’t feel like he was a serious part of the conversation that season.

I didn’t say that Max’s personal circumstances should impact his selection. I merely said that his ability to skate well, hell to skate AT ALL, after what he’s been through is incredible. He didn’t just lose his parents. He lost his coaches too.

Has anyone said that?

None of the U.S. men not named Ilia or Jason have distinguished themselves over the past quad. Torg went to Worlds twice and couldn't crack the top 20 either time. And none of the contenders for the 3rd spot have distinguished themselves so far this fall. At this point, I expect that whoever finishes 3rd/top 3 at Nats will get the spot.

Skating a clean program and scoring 90+ internationally is better than what the other 3rd spot contenders have done so far this season and that's what people are commenting on.

I suspect that if Naumov finishes top 3 at nationals, he’s going to the Olympics. Can you imagine the optics if they “kicked off the team” the orphan from the tragic plane crash?

I don’t think that’s true of everyone else. Maybe Hiwatashi and Torgashev, but if say Kapeikis or Kazanecki finish third, I’m not convinced they’ll be selected.

Interesting that the callers overlooked it; the judges noticed and immediately gave it negative GOE.

Yup - protocols are up and there was no review. I was surprised it wasn't marked for review in real time.

Audrey's 3s got a q, and their 3t+1a+2a was called 3T<+1A+2A<, so the tech panel was definitely looking at stuff today.

Kazanecki definitely won't be selected since he hasn't been sent out to any Sr Bs to get his CTES mins.

Kapeikis and Sanchez would be on the bubble, IMO - if they decisively beat out the 4th place & lower guys then I think they'd get the Olympic spot, but if it's a close call between one of them in 3rd and Hiwatashi or Torgashev in 4th, then I suspect the 4th place finisher would get the Olympic spot. As far as Naumov is concerned... If he can post a 235+ score here then he probably moves into the Hiwatashi/Torgashev category, but the same can be said for Kapeikis & Sanchez - if they can put up a 235-240 score then they probably all will put themselves in the same box of getting the spot should they win bronze at Nats.

I didn’t really think her sal looked short….maybe a q but only with a strict panel. I think the negative GOEs was mostly from how quickly she stepped back after the jump was over.

Per protocols Chelsea did not underrotate, the negative goe it was for Ryan pitching forward.

And I believe the jump sequence was always plan to be a double single single. All in all they rocked it out big time.

At this point whoever finishes on the podium at Nationals should just be sent unless they don't have the minimums. No one has done anything to deserve to be given special treatment but Ilia and Jason everyone else from Torgy to Tomoki to Max have been mostly mediocre for years and have done nothing to separate themselves from each other. One day they look good then the next they are terrible and it's been that way for too many years.

I would appreciate a link to the Women's Free Skate from a kind soul because no matter how often I look at the On The Rocks site, FSUers in the know see them much earlier. 😁

Kaiya Ruiter is doing well under Order/Preston even if the technical content is not optimal... and I have to suffer through Queen Céline. 😉

(Also love how Order is always genuinely happy for his skaters. 💕)

113.66 in the Free, temporarily (maybe?) in First.

Gabrielle Daleman fell on her opening Lutz (might've been a planned combination) but did not implode and added a 3Lutz+2Toe in the late section of her program.

2nd best technical score of the Free (59.01) and she wins it!! :cheer: :cheer2:

Beyond happy for her. 💕

ETA. 2nd best, not best tech score.

I turned on the men’s FS and the guy was skating to Adagio for Strings. I left the room and came back and he was skating to Nemesis 😂 Bless these OES guys lol.
