I Want to Learn to Code

I'm not sure where to start. There are so many sites. Many are free and I need free. I don't have any real project I want to work on - at least not yet. I thought of Kahn Academy.

Does anyone have a favorite site or some good recommendations.

First you would need to decide why you want to learn to code and what you want to code. Then you can ask for help and expect useful answers.

My brain works the other way round. When I know what things do and how they work, then I can decide what I want to do with them.

It's a simple language that is great for self learners with a lot of free resources on the web. They are really into open source and hold events.

That's the language my husband always assigns to his summer interns, who are usually STEM majors with no coding experience, as it is easy for beginners.

But if you really want to understand coding, I would suggest taking a programming logic class first, if you can find one. Once you understand the logic of coding, it's easier to master any language.

You might want to look into specifics: they're more abstract.
Coding is translating specifics closer to a level of machine understanding, specifics are the logic behind its soundness.
