HOW FAR DOES ICE-DANCING REALLY GO BACK?

Say I know that Pairs Skating goes back as far as 1908. But how far back does Ice-Dancing go? Does anyone know if Ice-Dancing is that old?

People were dancing on the ice, often in couples, at least since the 1870s in Vienna.

There were some competitions in waltzes and marches (Kilian; Fourteenstep and its predecessor Tenstep) by early 20th century.

But there weren't world championships in Ice Dancing until the 1950s, and it didn't become part of the Olympics until the 1970s.
