I only created a Tik-Toc account because people keep posting videos, especially in PI.

I'm sorry I did. It seems to want me to get some inappropriate videos it takes several clicks to get to the right one.

That's interesting. My TikTok is full of animals, happy gays and drag queens, and comedians. The only thing that bugs me is that TikTok will show a lot of TikTok Lives in between and they all seem to be designed to get me to spend money on some crap product. I just swipe them away. :D

This happens to me with a lot of social media where other people say how horrible their feeds are - full of Nazis and other crap -- but mine is fine. I don't know what I am doing to avoid that crap but whatever it is, it's working!

Any Google search gives me AI crap first. I have fallen into the trap that AI is best because it's first. Every single one has the Meta symbol and offers you to share to Meta.
I don't understand. Google isn't Meta and the only symbol I see in Google AI search results is the link to the source of the AI.

I curate my social media pretty heavily, so I don't see a lot of horrible stuff, either, unless I am reading stuff I don't follow in Xitter. It's definitely there, but I don't see it unless I go after it.

The Facebook memoir is quite scary, even if you take it with a few grains of salt. :yikes:

I guess I wasn't very clear and confusing stuff.

My Google Internet searches shows AI stuff

Meta is everywhere, but not Google.

The Google email setting I found (and I can't tell you where it was in the email settings) have use Google conversations in AI gathering data.

I just recently signed into TikTok and probably don't have it shut down correctly. My answer is to not click on links provided in PI or anywhere.

That's been going on for a couple of years now.
I guess, it catch me off guard because I was trying to find another setting to change.

I can't find that setting again anywhere in my email settings to check on it. (I have a couple of Gmail accounts for different purposes).

But - anything you do anywhere or anyhow is being gathered. I mean Alexa, Siri, Google are listening. I guess the only thing secure is your own mind and even then HAL in 2001 Space Odyssey might be listening

I don't know why people are so surprised. First of all, Zuck is the guy who built him empire by ripping off other people. Secondly, we've been hearing this stuff for years, decades really. We know FB did research that found FB harmed teenagers and then didn't do anything to stop it, for example.

The book is more about geopolitical issues involving Facebook than, say, user issues with Facebook. The author was at one time Facebook's global policy director.

I agree that it's more about geopolitical issues. I have relatives (19 first cousins) along with their families from all over the US that use FB. I have nieces and nephews that use FB. I have friends that share about their families on FB. None of them have had any problems or issues that I know of.

Which is why I have a hold on it. :)

But I have seen a lot of shock that "FB is evil." To which I say: D'uh.
