Dream Olympic Podiums 2 weeks away from the Games

Men:
Gold -- Chen
Silver -- Kolyada (I know, I know)
Bronze -- Kagiyama

Women:
I haven't bothered with hopes and dreams because it's pretty much predetermined. :) It would be cool to see Anna pull the upset, but I don't expect it. If anyone else is going to sneak onto the podium, it would be nice if it were Alysa or maybe even Mana (I like her even though she beat Satoko and Mai), but I REALLY don't expect that.

Dance:
Gold -- Papadakis/Cizeron
Silver and bronze -- I'm good with any combination of Chock/Bates, Hubbell/Donohue, and Gilles/Poirier

Pairs:
Gold -- Sui/Han
Silver -- Boikova/Kozlovskii
Bronze -- Mishina/Galliamov

Team:
Gold -- USA
Silver -- Russia
Bronze -- Japan

Unrealistic dream podiums

Men:
1. Nathan Chen
2. Jason Brown
3. Kevin Aymoz

Ladies:
1. Mariah Bell
2. Wakaba Higuchi
3. Loena Hendrickx

Pairs:

Dance
1. Papadakis & Cizeron by a lot!
2. Hubbell & Donohue
3. Chock & Bates
I feel bad leaving Sinitsina & Katsalapov off the podium because she has improved SOOOOOOOOOO much, but their FD is just :blah:

Pairs - and wow, these 3 teams are incredible to me....
1. Sui & Han - I really hope they skate well, I'm so nervous for them with all the pressure Chinese athletes seem to crumble under
2. Mishina & Galliamov
3. Tarasova & Morozov

Mens
1. Chen
2. Kolyada
3. Kondratiuk

Ladies
like others have said I'm not that psyched about this podium because it looks so unmovable. Also just not into many of these programs. So, dream podium right?
1. Valieva
2. Kurakova
3. Gubanova

TEAM - this one is also not as interesting
1. Russia
2. United States
3. Japan

Or the end of the sham of the Olympics altogether. And its about time that happened. Its a money-making grab and political spectacle for the public relations of whatever government they are held under. The athletes are just pawns in the scheme. No more Olympics would be my dream beyond podiums.

FYI there is a thread for such discussions if anyone is interested: https://www.fsuniverse.net/forum/th...winter-games-protests-politics-thread.108757/
It is odd that athletes compete against the same people they normally compete against. And yes it is a huge money-making scheme for host countries. It is also profitable for athletes who win medals.

Do Sintisina/Katsalapov not have many fans seems no one wants them on the podium :shuffle:
Their programs this season are definitely a big letdown in quality compared to their programs last season, particularly their RD, which I can’t stand this season. Also, personally for me, I absolutely cannot get behind a team coached by such an outspoken bigot as Alexander Zhulin. His hurtful hate speech toward the LGBTQIA+ and marginalized communities is abhorrent and disappointing.

While I agree mostly, what does one expect S&K to do though. Find another coach? It is too late to find another coach with any kind of political pull at such short notice. Everyone of note already is entrenched with someone. It is best to ride the course until after the Olympic season (if they are planning on continuing post Olympics that is) atleast.

Any russian teams for Gold and Silver
Ashley Cain-Gribble/Tim Leduc

Dance
Pappadakis/Cizeron
Chock/Bates and Hubbell/Donahue for Silver and Bronze (any order)

Mine would be
Russian sweep in women and pairs (I want Trusova to nail all 5 of those quads and make history--well so would 4)

Men: Nathan gold--a clean White Crow skate (I don't expect it to medal and don't care--I just want him to skate clean)--don't care who the other medalists are. There are many who could land on the podium.

Dance: P/C gold and Step/Bukin and Chock/Bates for the other two places.

Team:
G: Russia
S: Japan
B: Italy

Women:
G: Valieva
S: Shcherbakova

Sui/Han - Gold
M/G or B/K any order

Ladies
Not invested in this race, it'll be exciting though.
On second thought:
Valieva - Gold
Trusova - Silver
Sherbakova - Bronze

I feel like this season has lost momentum with the GPF being canceled and I will forget about some current skaters in my list!

Team:
I don't care as long as there's great skating and Hubbell/Donohue are medalists.

Women:
G: Kaori Sakamoto
S: Loena Hendrickx
B: Mariah Bell

I have a feeling there's a thread to be created sometime about medals you wish you could give out with all eras being taken into account (e.g. G: Midori Ito; S: Maria Butyrskaya; B: Elaine Zayak 😁).

Ice Dance:
Gold: Papadakis/Cizeron
Silver: Stepanova/Bukin
Bronze: Chock/Bates

I doubt that Zhulin's recent remarks came out of left field. The time for finding someone less obnoxious was years ago.

Completely agree. My guess would be P/C, S/K, S/B on podium, with the North American teams just below.

of course I would absolutely love Guignard & Fabbri to sneak in there somehow. They would be my dark horse. Not only do they deserve it, but—can you imagine Barbara F-P’s reaction? :)
I think bronze is really a toss up between S/B, HD, G/F and C/B. Not sure about G/P. Hmmm...

I am biased since I am a big fan but I really feel Guignard & Fabbri have been so underrated by judges. Their countrymen Cappelini & Lanotte had absolutely no skating skills at all, particularly her, and had way better results. It would be great to see them finally get their due, although I know that would be a miracle.

I think they will get their due only if there's a group of retirements.I mean they could actually win Euros next season.
Perhaps they will be like Winkler/Lohse get a world thankyou medal :shuffle:
