The Briar - Canadian Men's Curling Championships is this week in St. John's, Newfoundland.

The Brier has now concluded in Newfoundland with Matt Dunstone (and the prettiest set of eyes) defeating Kevin Koe in the final. Matty has been the heartbreak kid the last few years with two previous final losses and losing at the Trials but he finally got this one done and I can't think of anyone more deserving. I've been around this sport a long time (as well as some very well known curlers) and Matty deserves this as much as anyone. He's truly one of the nicest guys in the sport and just in general period. He's also got LGBT representation on the team in their alternate with the Harndens (previous Brier winners and Olympic Champions) so this is a VERY good Team Canada. Now onto Worlds!

Massive Kudos to St. John's as well for putting on another great event. Nobody does hospitality and a party than do the people of Newfoundland and Labrador. They should be very proud of themselves for putting on another great event.

Also kudos to Kevin Koe. He has been almost nowhere the last couple years but he played at near his best this week. It sucks the only game they lost was the final but alas, that's sport and they were very classy in defeat.
