This is driving me bat-crap crazy! The cursor on my computer is constantly "sticking"; so it's dragging stuff that I'm not wanting to drag, and it's highlighting stuff constantly. Additionally, if the cursor is resting in the midst of a post/page that I'm typing on, once it gets to the area the cursor is at, it will start typing over itself, as if to start a new line where the cursor is. I have tried googling solutions and have made adjustments to my mouse and touchpad settings without it working. I have downloaded "touchfreeze" in the past when I had similar problems, so I uninstalled that and downloaded the newest version of it, but it's not helping. I thought I would ask here before trying to call on "geek squad" or the like, because doing school online and occasional work from home is driving me batty!! Thanks to anyone for suggestions!

I have had that kind of problem on my iPad and it went away. I have no idea what I did wrong or right, sorry. Can you use an external keyboard? They're cheap and easy. Anker is a good brand.

When I have had this problem, I got a new mouse pad. I think the surface you are putting the mouse on makes a difference.

thanks @snoopy , it's actually the touchpad on a laptop (I guess I should have said that in the first post! Sorry!)

OOOPS, thanks @Spun Silver ! (didn't see your post at first). I'd hate to have to use an external mouse with the laptop, since I most frequently use it downstairs on the couch! But I know that's a backup if necessary!

This happens with my laptop also (a newer Acer Aspire). It usually rights itself when I reboot. (I don't often shut it down - just log off, and I think it contributes to the problem.)
