AAAA I AM SO EXCITED! I'm almost done knitting a Captain America scarf, complete with shield button. :cheer:

Unfortunately, I will be in a conference in Atlanta opening weekend. I've read spoilers (DON'T JUDGE ME) and I'm already aware that I may not be emotionally capable of seeing it and being functional the rest of the conference. So Monday evening after work it will be. :)

It opened here in Taiwan yesterday, and when I went to see it last night, the theater was about 3/4 full. For a weeknight in my city, that's practically sold out. Of course everyone being off of school probably had something to do with it, but still. I was surprised by how many screens were showing it.

Saw this last night. Really enjoyed it except for the way the fight scenes are filmed. Can they just film something straight instead of doing all the dodgy imitation hand held camera stuff and bad editing? It was really distracting.

The best moment for me though

was when Spiderman and Antman came into it. All of a sudden it was really funny. Particularly Spiderman was hilarious and very enjoyable. His bit really added to the movie.

Hopefully it's better than the Avengers sequel, because "Age of Ultron" wasn't very good, IMO. :shuffle:
The reviews have been significantly better for Civil War so I am optimistic. I also prefer the Russo's to Whedon though. The Russo Brothers work on Community was fantastic. They were responsible for some of the best episodes the show put out. Whedon's blatant ignorance of any character development that occurred between his Avengers movies really soured me on his contribution.

I've talked to Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely before (they came up to Minneapolis to mentor some local screenwriters and screenwriting students). They were big fans of the Captain America comics for a long time, and when the original film was announced, their agent managed to get them a pitch session with the film's producers. They were given the first script not just because their spec scripts were strong, but because they both had a lot of knowledge of the Captain America comics and really understood what made Captain America special. They've been able to continue writing the Captain America films and they've always had a really clear view where that story should go. Although I haven't seen Civil War (and might not get to it this week), I trust their vision.

That's awesome! It's clear they really love the character and they understand him. Before the movie came out, everyone thought Cap was "too square" to carry a compelling movie, which is obviously not true. Unfortunately the screenwriters for the recent Superman movies haven't gotten that memo yet. :shuffle: MCU's Captain America is what Superman should have been in Superman Returns, Man of Steel, and Batman v Superman. Sigh.

Got my post-conference tickets for Monday night! :cheer:

I am back from seeing Captain America: Civil War and it certainly lived up to the hype!!! I LOVED it!!! I will try and refrain from saying more for a while but will say Civil War is a 9 out of 10!!! Not perfect but really close! :cheer2: And did everyone stick around for both bonus scenes?!

P.S.
Team Cap all the way!!! :cheer2:

Saw it again today and if possible it seemed even better the 2nd time around! I must say there were a lot of people showing up to movie with Captain America t-shirts on, but I didn't notice any Iron Man t-shirts. LOL No reflection on RDJ however, because this guy is a phenomenal actor and MCU would not be where it is without him.

I was originally planning on going tomorrow but my friend and I caved and ended up getting tickets for later tonight. At least I'll have less time to worry about being spoiled.

Aaargh - there were 2 bonus scenes? I left after the 1st because I thought that was all. Off to find out what the second bonus scene entailed.
