She has seen it all, from Tonya Harding's scandalous hit job on Nancy Kerrigan, to the barren airports of Cold War Russia. She has been a part of five Olympics and 10 World Championships.
But when [Gale] Tanger served as referee at the World Figure Skating Championship in Boston at the end of March, it was her last international event. The International Skating Union has a mandatory retirement at the age of 70. <snip>
Tanger will stay involved in skating. She has plans to keep training the next generation of judges and continue her service as an official for domestic events.
