Most well known in the world would probably be a politician, like Trump or Putin or Obama. Or a self-promoter/entrepreneur/very rich person like Elon Musk.

I think it also depends on the definition of "world". In densely populated countries like India there are movie stars and entertainers that are extremely well known - and that's a lot of people, even compared to the population of the entire world - but those people are hardly known at all outside that part of the world.

If by "most popular" you mean "with the best reputation", Obama would probably be right up there. Not the other three I mentioned!

Popularity can be judged in many ways. For example, Christiano Ronaldo is the person the most Instagram followers (with Lionel Messi behind by 130 million, and Kylie Jenner another 13 million behind that)

According to various sites, the 'most famous' person in the world would be either Elon Musk, Dwayne Johnson, Joe Biden, Barack Obama, or the British Royals. But does 'most famous' mean 'most popular'? I mean, Trump is pretty darn well known around the world, but is also generally disliked outside of a certain group. So he's famous, but not necessarily popular.

Yes, one can be infamous---I think well known is not always well liked. I think if I would have asked this a couple of months ago the Queen might be both popular and well known.

I think the questions are impossible to answer, without living in remote areas of the world. If some who lives in isolated areas have heard of someone, maybe then they could be considered the most well known in the world.

With 7.8 billion population (as of 2021) , what % would need to know who someone is?

Same with most popular. But popular needs an agreed upon definition.

He seemed to be everywhere doing press junkets for his film Black Adam just a few months ago in the UK and seems to have a few films a year come out so he still seems to be everywhere to me.
