alilou's Adventures in Wonderland 2 - all over the map

I have a new blog post ready. This one is about a day trip we did to Nara from Kyoto. Can't believe it was nearly 2 years ago and I've just written about it! Anyway here it is. I hope you enjoy it. Nara was the original capital of Japan dating back to the 700's. I liked the free-range deer best :) So cute. And pushy!

Like clockwork :) I have a new blog post ready. I still have travel stories to tell, even though some of it is (of course) more local these days. This latest post really is in my own backyard - the river we walk to every day, and play beside in the summer.

I have a new blog post ready. This one is way over due. We've been to Montreal for Christmas with family 6 times and I've never written about it or shared the photos. It's time!

It's part a glimpse of Montreal, part an exposé of Canadian winters, and part fun family Christmas stories.

You must have been reading my mind- I was going through your blog yesterday thinking: 'when are we going to get a new post?'

Some really beautiful photos, as always.

Thanks so much @kedrin. And here it is - a new post! I'm glad you're enjoying the blog. I'm as committed as ever to doing it.
I'm posting about every 10 days these days. And I'm nearly running out of things to post about except . . . . . in 1980 (!) I did a 4 month overland trip through Africa from Port Elizabeth on the south coast of South Africa to London. It was a truly epic journey and I've never written about it so if I don't get to do any new travelling I'll tell that story.

Ooooh- that would be a good one! The first place I ever travelled to outside of the Midwest, USA was Kenya. I was an exchange student, living in a very rural situation- right on the shore of Lake Victoria. Then my sister married a man from South Africa, so I went to visit there a few years ago. I love Africa- it's a special place for me. I would love to read about your experiences.

How amazing to go to Kenya as a student! Must have been an incredible experience. And then to get to go back. Even better. It's such an extraordinary place - the whole continent! I long to go back. Since that trip in 1980 I've been back - to Egypt which was a real highlight for many reasons.

Yes- Egypt is amazing! I need to get back there as well. Africa is actually the continent where I've come closest to touching the northernmost, southernmost, easternmost and westernmost points: Cairo, Dakar (airport only), Kenya- swam in the Indian Ocean, and Cape Agulhas, which is the actual southernmost point of Africa, not the Cape of Good Hope.

I can only claim Alexandria, Kenya, and Cape Town - pretty close, but I've never been to west Africa. One day we will both get back!

I would love to see Alexandria- and to explore West Africa as well. Then there's Morocco, and Algeria- well, basically you'd have better luck listing the places I DON'T want to visit. If I could think of any.

Me too!
