2026 US Nationals Men's SP "Je Suis Malanin"

Oh my gosh ... I thought they were NEVER going to stop the camera close-ups of Maxim in the K/C after that interview. Good Heavens, give the guy some space. Kind of like the paparazzi going in for the pic, no matter how painful for the subject.
I just hope that Max and those close to him understand that he'll need long term support/help. He'll be dealing with this trauma for the rest of his life

Exactly. It's kind of disturbing -this media story that seems to be "if Max is on the podium there is a happy ending for everyone". As much as I'd like him to have a good skate, that's not going to fix his grief. Only time and unconditional support (which thankfully it looks like he has around him) will. Medals won't.

My fear is that he's going on autopilot because of the Olympic season and there's a breakdown waiting somewhere in the background. I hope he has people around him that are aware that he'll need a lot of support in the future.

Of course he will. I lost my father when I was 22 years old. More than 40 years he has been gone and I still feel the hurt but I have learned over the years to put that grief in the right place in my heart. He will too. I pray he will have the support he needs.
