2026 Olys Womens FS PBP - Missed Full of Horrors

If only the judges had a way to reward performance quality 🤔
You can't quite differentiate someone like Pinzarrone from someone like Alysa Liu though. She also has great performance quality but she isn't as polished..I'm don't think they get rewarded specifically for this.

Nina's last minute had me in tears.

Carol Lane saying Isabeau suffered in the SP from being US #3 (sadly probably true). Kurt added lack of speed as a reason.

Is Isabeau slow? I've never seen her live, but I didn't get that impression from the way people talk about her. Or was he saying she was slower than usual on Tuesday?

Can we make a petition for ISU to get rid of the leader's chair? The skaters behave well, but it must be hard to sit there and being observed.

They'll never get rid of it. Too much opportunity for TV drama. Look at how much millage Ilia congratulating Misha has gotten.

But I wish they would do top 3.

Anyone have the Benoit description handy?
"The main protagonist is a young girl who is shipwrecked but gets to see all her memories and say goodbye to her friends before she drowns in the water. It is a moving skate that shows a more mature side of Pinzarrone while also acknowledging her youthfulness."

Well, I guess some of Nina's rotations drowned but lovely performance.

I applaud the skaters for not getting wrapped up in leader's chair mentality. I feel like this crop of skaters (maybe ice dancers aside :P ) is more about being supportive than combative and it feels like the ISU is trying to create drama and rivalries that honestly skating doesn't necessarily need. The friendships amongst the American and Japanese skaters can be just as compelling as rivalries.

The last minute of Nina's program is just pure, unadulterated beauty. Like old school, figures-era, just good quality skating. See, I'd be OK if the judges ignored a couple of edges for that. I think this program sort of flips the script on skating to anything--that program composition would be gorgeous to a lot of songs, sans voiceover.
