2026 Olympics Day Eight General Thread - Lose Is In The Air

Unusual situation in dual moguls where both skiers made serious mistakes. But the one who finished with a fall was deemed the winner.

Norway win the women’s cross country relay. Sweden and Finland complete the Nordic party.

And there’s nothing like a stadium full of crazed Nordic fans screaming Sweet Caroline at the top of their lungs.

And watching 12 talented cross country skiers trying to walk through the slush to the medal stand is a trip, literally.

There’s a Brazilian in the lead in the men’s giant slalom run 1!
And he won??!!!!
:cheer2:

It’s Carnaval Saturday, people should be out on the streets partying, and they’re reporting something in the range of over half a million people watching alpine skiing here, in the height of summer.

Dude got his dream of winning his way and becoming a national hero.

There are times when being Brazilian is pretty cool. 🇧🇷

One thing I found really cool is that they played at the venue after Pinheiro-Braathen’s run the song that was played on TV whenever Ayrton Senna would win a F1 race (they would later play it whenever any Brazilian driver would win a race).
It became something of a general victory theme for when someone accomplished anything.
It was a nice touch.

Aaaand it’s official!
I’m still completely  :swoon:

Giant slalom is like beach volleyball, except it's on snow, innit?

🇧🇷 :kickass:

honestly that crazy race was for the last woman standing. Sweden's team did a somersault fall, busted a binding, and got silver anyway. I believe another team busted a pole (but maybe it was Sweden). Awful slushy icy snow conditions.

Domen Prevc (SLO) recovered from his disappointment in the Ski Jumping Normal Hill and took the Gold in the Large Hill, matching his form all season long in the World Cup where he dominated.
I thought Ren’s lead was solid…. Mais non.

Watching the short track. Three advancements to the men’s 1500m final so they’ll be nine skaters.

US women just fell in the 3000m relay. :yikes:

1500m final coming up. Tough ask for Niall Treacy 🇬🇧 to get a medal, but maybe there can be a Bradbury moment? ;)
