"Showcased" really is Mark's word of the tournament, to the point he's kinda forgotten what it means. He just said a team were "showcasing fatigue".

That will be me by the end of today - without waiting for my alarm I woke up in time to see the second couple; I have a scheduled 2-hr Zoom meeting (with a very frustrating volunteer group) in the middle of the next event; this afternoon I'm joining neighbours for some sort of celebration of life for another neighbour who died between Christmas and New Years. It's scheduled to take place at a local Legion from 3 to 5 p.m.

Yamashita/Nagata

Nice control through the one foot turns, but only level one, could skate closer together, strong lifts, mini-lift where she lifts him ETA: this may have been a choreo assisted jump—I’m still waking up

Davies/Black

She has nice positions in the lifts, some work to do on clarity of edge to gain the levels, clean skate with a nice presence

Deych/Hu

Lovely carriage, level one for him on twizzles—he wobbled and checked some turns, not getting any levels on steps; their basic skating looks stronger than the previous teams in this WU group, though. Not their best performance of this program—looked a little slow out there. I wonder how much they’ve been practicing this program

Bielodonova/Kachur

Nice twizzles, impressive handstand look in straight line lift, I like this—choreography has lots of interesting shapes and they were very into it

Sznajder/Novak

Well-synchronized twizzles (level 3 for her), nice maturity and intensity
in their presentation, like every team in this WU group, not getting step levels

Ice resurfacing underway.

Straub/Straub

Felt like their speed was uneven and mostly generated by crossovers, she got a level 2 on steps, nice lifts. Everything was pleasant, but I’d have it behind Czechs

Kruk/Eisenhaber

Well-matched one foot turns (level 2 for her) and steps (level 2s), twizzles a bit rough, think they could develop their storytelling more, nice choreo hydroblading move at end of program

Bianchi/Basile

They have a wonderful smooth way of moving, twizzles could use more ice coverage, lifts that expressed the music, think they could connect more with each other, fantastic basics and foundation to build on

Robertson/Rohner

He looked a little stiff at beginning and no surprise struggles through the twizzles, she is looking relaxed and into her knees and unfortunately the contrast between partners is apparent, errors from him on step sequence and he falls in choreo step sequence. Going to drop

Now this is what I'm talking about.
A couple of a pretty girl and a boy who is not yet quite sure how many limbs he has, skating to the most yawn inducing warhorse splatting all around.
Everything I wanted!

LMAO at Deych still wearing her flower crown in the audience. Mark was saying that she wrote to the crown-crafter to beg her for one, and now I guess she's wearing it forever!

Ouch for Robertson/Rohner. The USFS is going to be sweating out the placement of AboVes now. They need to place in the top 2 or we drop to 2 teams for Jr Worlds next year.

Mouaden/Bigot

Fantastic unison, level 2s on turns, cool entrance to rotational lift, bringing the energy even in the boardography, exciting and dynamic

Dania looked tight through the twizzles, but survived. Another great skate for them. :respec:

Cizeron who? :blah:
Take your stupid Olympic gold medal and send it to the real champions!!!

:cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

In a couple of years when they're both legal, I will be throwing panties.

FYI - Veillon/Brandys' costumes are still as ugly as they were back in the fall.
