OK it’s getting close, who are your picks for the podium at this year‘s worlds championships in Boston?

There could be other possibilities as always, but I think this is a good top 10.

Hoping Sakamoto and Glenn skate clean and battle for gold, preferably Amber.

Chaeyeon Kim is extremely talented, impressively consistent, and while I like the short program, I find the long program rather boring, to be frank, with minimal levels of performance and almost no projection. I would be disappointed if she wins because the other top contenders make mistakes.

I think whichever Ni(i)na skates a better short program will get a nice little PCS boost, as the top European skater, and make the top 4 or 5.

I want Amber, Kaori, and Wakaba. All aged 24+ with their mad skills and polished presentation. Do I believe that will happen? Well... no, sigh.

Hard to tell if Chaeyeon is peaking at the right time based on 4CC alone. Her GPs were not so great. And she's all tech and zero presence. A ladiezzzzz  lady for sure.

Both of Chaeyeon's GPs were super-deep fields. She'd have won SkAm and Finlandia & earned silver at SCI with her GPdF score - and if she'd had a 1st or 2nd along with her 3rd at CoC then she'd have made the GPF.

Kim is on a roll, so in prediction world, you can't leave her off the podium. Amber managed to pull through in each of her competitions this entire season, relative to what used to happen. Kaori is a queen and will still likely be the top JPN lady.

That is IMO the podium. In what order, I don't know.

I think Mone is the spoiler but not as favored as she was a few months ago.

I`m numbing myself for the Amber skate. She`s so far ahead of what she`s done in the past - competition wise. She may flub at worlds. But, in the past these disappointments have motivated her to work out what`s going on in her head. Next year could be her best year yet and challenge for an Oly medal.

Amber, Chaeyeon and Kaori are the safe choices.

Amber - best season of all the skaters. Lost momentum at GPF (even though she won she didn't skate her best and barely eked out a win thanks to some generous calls) and nationals but she's usually gifted with lenient calling and if she nails her short will have a significant lead with her 3A.

Chaeyeon - will be rewarded for her consistency and big win at 4CC.

Kaori - middling season with a program that really does NOT suit her style. Her jumps are also looking kinda wrapped and she's getting plagued with rotation calls that haven't really been an issue in the past. Still her jumps, when she does them well, are the CLASS of the field and her basic skating skills can't be denied.

Mone could play spoiler here with mistakes from others.

Frankly the person I really want to win this event is Wakaba, she's the only skater on this list that excites me. But that is all dependent on whether she gets her sketchy 3Lz+3T called clean in the short, or she'll be buried.

She's done so well and hopefully with those wins, gained the confidence that will serve her well at Worlds, but there's greater expectations and pressure, too.
