Oh, did I hear "disappointment" again from KMT??? Did Deanna and Maxime not read my earlier post? Why do I bother? It wasn't horrible or anything but still .... Deanna wasn't looking happy at the end.

eta: I do not care if it gets the most points, that death spiral is UGLY when they perform it.

Ouf. Well, after Maxime’s illness it’s expected.

I still don’t know what the heck this program is about (Ted: “it’s about the health of the planet”).

Okey. Dokey.

LMAO - "no one will remember this if Boston..." Oh, Ted, Boston ain't happenin'. They're not getting on the podium if they don't figure it out and, so far, they haven't this season.

Gah. They got a gift in the SP score yesterday and that pad is all they needed to win overall. Man... If only Lia had landed the first throw.

I disagree. The throw 3lo was fabulous and their SBS jump combo was also really nice.

I'll concede their throw 3 loop was amazing. The combo jump was good, but c'mon... they are sloppy on A LOT of their elements. He was so piked forward on the start of the first lift it was a miracle they saved it. They lost a level on the death spiral because they couldn't complete the rotation and exit clean.

They have promise, but still a long way to go.

Oh, I don't disagree about the rest of your observations. Their lifts & just their basic skating skills leave a LOT to be desired. But, I just wanted to defend their throw 3lo - best of the night!

i'll be honest I don't have a problem with a skater like deanna not hiding her disappointment like why should she have to? she's not happy. As long as she's not taking it out on her partner i see no issue with it.

I am not a fan either BUT one of my real pet peeves is ugly lift positions that get loads of points. Deanna and Max don't have any of those. In fact Deanna's beautiful lift positions are my absolute favourites.

In answer to the question about Jean-Michel Bombardier's partners, Wikipedia lists 3 - Marie-Josée Fortin, Stacey Ball and Michelle Menzies. I'm not sure I remember the first one but I definitely remember the other two. Jean-Michel & Michelle were 2-time Canadian champions. Jean- Michel competed at Worlds once with Stacy and three times with Michelle, always finishing in the top 10. Wikipedia does not list any Olympic appearances so I might be wrong about that.

SD & D's music is from a BBC documentary https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Blue_Planet.

I think it has possibilities, but I think the choreo is too ambititious right now in their training and health. If they ever skated it clean, I think it would be quite nice.

Lia & Trent - as I was watching it I thought of how Lori Nichol did such a great job on the choreo back in the day. With the rule changes since then, L&T couldn't do it like that and it made me sad.
