They're not a new team. They competed at Japanese Nationals last year, but never competed internationally. Interesting, though, that they made the decision to switch to Canada.

Yes I meant new as in new for Canada, newly representing Canada.

Getting Japanese citizenship is near impossible so that might explain the switch. Maybe.

That was my thought as well, especially since they train in Colorado Springs with Meekins & Mishkuteniok.

Another excellent JGP for Canadian pairs. Kemp/Elizarov with their second win in 2 weeks and a new set of PBs become the first JGPF qualifiers. Quattrochi/Lacasse in their first international and after only a few months together won bronze, and Dion/Côté, just up from novice, finished 6th in the free skate and 9th overall, getting JW minimums.
