2023 Skate America in Allen, Texas

In case anyone arriving at DFW would be interested:

I found it pretty easy to ride DART light rail to Parker Road station in Plano, and then to take Lyft to Allen.
I was not in a rush, and the cost of Lyft directly from DFW to Allen would have been five or six times higher for me last night.

After landing at Terminal E, I took a free shuttle bus to Terminal A, where I bought a $3 ticket to board the Orange Line, which goes as far as Parker Road.

(The only reason that I did not fly to Love Field is that I needed to use up flight credit, and DFW was a better option for that purpose.)

Seeing that official practices don't begin until tomorrow, why would anyone expect practice cams today?

Today, I showed them my Google Wallet with each day's (except today's b/c there wasn't one) ticket and they waved me in. I imagine it will work the same way tomorrow.....I would be careful not to let them scan your ticket if you plan on leaving the arena and coming back.

Yeah I just scrolled through the ticketmaster page to show them all my tickets and that's all. They didn't scan anything.

I just showed them my ticket for today, no scan. I went outside several times to thaw out and each time they searched my clear purse. I thought the whole point of it being clear was so they didn’t need to check it? It isn’t even the maximum size, hopefully it doesn’t slow things down this evening.

God, I should have just gone to SA anyways. Does my husband actually need me to be around for his birthday? My inlaws are going to drive me nuts all weekend If I show up at the last minute on Sunday, is there a realistic way to get a ticket?? I need a reason to get out of here. wah.

Security was significantly stepped up from Practice - 2 separate people you had to clear, opened up wallets in the clear bags, etc. Decent sized crowd in the arena already with 10 minutes to go until the start!

I'm all for security, but asking people to open up wallets was ridiculous. If they ask everyone to open up every compartment and question every item, it will take hours to get everyone in. Then again, with all the empty seats tonight, maybe "everyone" isn't such a big number.

Judging by the number of empty seats tonight, I don't think you'll have a problem getting a ticket.

My estimate is that arena is about 40% full - which means probably 2500 - 3000 fans or so. Which means more than Skate America Norwood, MA!
