I’ve made it no secret that my preference for the bronze would be c/p - however I’m not totally delusional so I know this is a totally long shot (but it does put them in the final group for the RD - yay!). I think I’d put money on La/La as they have so much momentum this season - and if they can skate the way they did at nationals? I also personally much prefer their programmes to Gr/P this season.

I hope Piper's okay, and that she just decided it would be wise to take a little extra rest and recovery time.
I said back in October that gilles and poirier would find a way to avoid this event and risk losing to the americans on there home turf, they really want the world title this year so they immitated Pap & Ciz who skipped euros and did not face sinkats in eastern europe.

If this is truly a political move, then it's not a very smart one...Gilles/Poirier are not P/C. I don't think they have the luxury of cherry-picking comps. They scored well on the GP, but that was the first half of the season. The second half doesn't always mirror the first half.

Given that Piper is recovering from an appendectomy, the idea that skipping this competition is some sort of political, fearful move strikes me as kind of ludicrous. Sometimes Occam's razor really does apply.
In my opinion, the real reason Gilles decided to get "an appendectomy" is because she is running a covert operation against Russia. Notice how 4CCs happens so soon after EC? She went there as "a skater" to "support Europeans", but she knew Finland is very close to Russia. However, she got delayed in her attempts to corner Putin's closest. All those moustaches and newspapers with two holes in them don't always work, and she had to be very careful.

I agree. Piper's health is the priority, but I do think missing Canadians and 4CC could possibly hurt them in the long run. C/B are on the uprise, whereas (I read someone say on Reddit), there's a good chance judges will nitpick G/P more at Worlds, looking for imperfections (real or perceived) due to her reduced training.

I think it depends how much training time they had. If they are not fully ready it is a smart one as a loss to Chock & Bates would be a setback, moreso than missing the event.
Well, yes, if they aren't ready to compete, they shouldn't. What we're all responding to is the poster above suggesting they planned from the beginning of the season to skip 4CC out of fear of losing to C/B. Which is ridiculous even for conspiracy theories.

They showed that they were back on the ice quite quickly but that does not mean that they trained all their movements. After any surgery in mid. area any overstretching , knocks or falls could mean a nasty hernia which would put recovery way way back. I am sure Piper was under stern instructions from docs of does and don'ts and team is smart enough to pay attention. In my youth had a surgery which I bounced up from&wanted to go back to work right away....I was allowed but.....arrive early and sit in my chair until 1/2 hr before break and lunch.Do not carry anything and never wait in line. It was like jail but I obeyed because doc described what a hernia feels like.

No way green and parsons should be close to lala this year just on the RD lala have one of the best this year and deserve at least a 5 point lead barring mistakes, but americans are known for massive homecooking in there own country even Lauriaut and legac have better material they should finish ahead of C&P a massively overrated team canada didn` t lose much when they let Christina go.
