Do they? In the last 10+ years, they did in 16,17 and 21. 20 doesn’t count exactly.
I think I was conflating the Kwan years where it seemed to happen with some regularity (when she did the GP series) with the 2016 and 2017 Skate Americas since I remember the Wagner and Gold rivalry.

All good. USFS does it in other events from time to time. It was a fun look back at past lineups!

This is definitely one of the more stacked SA ladies fields. Korea, Japan, Russia, USA, etc.

Heading to Vegas tomorrow! Here’s hoping to an awesome weekend of skating.

Technically, they also went with the two top ladies from Nationals as is what Skate America almost always has.
However, those times there was a REAL rivalry? An American rivalry that was good for the American audience. I do not know who the CFO of the USFS is now (or if there even is one, heck call him/her the "treasurer", lol) but someone needs to do a better job at marketing skating to Americans. That could include decreasing ticket prices and featuring their "star" skaters at their premier competitions. Yes, there are other factors to consider when handing out invitations (whose family has the moneybags and can fill the seats, or is a local skater, etc), but if you want interest in the US, a rivalry is a good start. Alysa and Bradie have traded the last four National titles. And yet USFS didn't find that important to showcase? Who knows what's in their heads....

Jackie Wong is predicting Satoko for bronze. I don't dare to hope (and Lord knows his predictions can be way off), but bless him for it!

I think this field is extremely hard to predict. Apart from Trusova and her insane BV, none of the other women, even Sinitsyna & Usacheva, are known for being particularly consistent or having a BV that all but guarantees a medal even if they fall on 2-3 jumps.

The only serious competition for a medal will be by Kaori Sakamato. That is if Ksenia Sinitsina is healthy. And Usacheva is there.

She will. It's there. Just a matter of time before she gets over that firsttime hump. It's so there in practice, easy peasy.
practice and test skates are different from an actual competition, Kihira has been trying the 4S in practices for years.

a 5 Quad Trusova NOT unbeatable. Valieva with a fall in triple axel and not adding another 3Axel-2T won a new world record, Trusova needs the 3 axel to have a chance of beating a clean Valieva.

Valieva's 4S, 4T, 4T-2T, 3A, 3A-2T will beat any of Trusova's 5 Quads.

Let's focus on the SkAm field for now, mmmkay?

exactly, all people want to see in Trusova now is can she land a Trple axel ?
weve seen her land 5 quads in test skates, most people are not interested in that now, I've read forums and they are now focusing in Trusova's weakness, the triple axel, not many talks about her quads.

The triple axel is actually the ladies most strongest arsenal she can have nowadays, It is both a booster and a buffer.
No triple axel, No Olympic Gold

Me and most People zoom in to peoples shortcomings.
No, you were comparing her to a skater who isn't competing at Skate America. Whether she can win against Valieva is irrelevant to this poll or discussion.

Back to the SkAm women... Trusova wins, running away, regardless of how many triple axels or quads she lands. The silver and bronze medals - on any given day, we could see any combination of Miyahara, Sakamoto, Yokoi, Kim, You, Kurakova, Sinitsyna, Usacheva, or Glenn on the podium. Probably not so much Andrews or Shin because I don't think, even on their best day, they are likely to beat at least 8 of the other 9 women in the field.
