Joan, thanks so much for the card, you are so thoughtful. When my mom died, it was not a shock as she had been so sick for so long, and it was really a blessing because she had been suffering and no longer recognized any of us. My dad had some breathing issues - he had COPD - but was getting treatment and saw his doctor regularly, and none of us saw this coming. I'm still a basket case, I am not close to my brother and I feel as if I am all alone now.
