2025–26 Canadian Men: News and Updates

Feb. 13:
Is Canada sending Gogolev to Worlds?
Just checked Skate Canada's International Assignments page and their Worlds entries are still blank but I think it's safe to say that Gogolev will be the one in Prague. :)

According to the 2026 Worlds Announcement, entries by name for Worlds are due "not later than Tuesday, February 24, 2026 – 20:00, local time Prague / CZE."

Imagine if he medals at Worlds?
The men's field these days is such that there are at least 10-15 men currently competing who could be on the podium one day and not qualify for the FS the next, and I'm barely exaggerating when I say that. I hope that people don't put too much pressure on Gogo to top his Olympic performance - this was his first season really re-establishing consistency, and I hope he just keeps building on that as he goes forward. The one good thing is that he's had several seasons of struggling to learn from - I keep thinking of Nam's winning season when he won Canadians in Patrick's absence and placed fifth at Worlds, and how it took him several years after his growth spurt to even come close to replicating that level of success again. Stephen is (hopefully) on the other end of that type of struggle, but more success comes with more pressure, and we'll see how he handles it.

Oh, I agree. If he can finish in the top ten again, that would be great! I get nervous when people say " The Next One" it's a jinx.

Unfortunately for Grayson LONG :(, he has been replaced by sub David BONDAR (Anthony PARADIS is the lone sub now) in the Junior Worlds men's entries today (also reflected on Skate Canada's International Asssingments page).

ETA: Bondar turned 19 in December so this will be his second and final Junior Worlds. Long turned 18 in October so is eligible for one more ISU Junior season if he wants.

Bringing over my 3 Feb. 22 links in Gogolev's fan thread:
Stephen is back home in Toronto and confirmed his next competition will be Worlds in Prague in this interview (Feb. 20):
ISU Worlds entries were published online this past Wednesday:
Stephen GOGOLEV
(Subs: Roman SADOVSKY, Wesley CHIU, Aleksa RAKIC)

From Skate Canada's Maria Olszewska Memorial recap yesterday:
Canada dominated the rankings in the advanced novice men’s discipline, with all four skaters finishing at the top of the standings. Bowen Yan, competing for the first time internationally, took first place with 122.31 points overall.
“I feel good,” he said. “I’m surprised. Coming into this competition, I didn’t think I was going to win and now that it’s finished, I feel a lot lighter, it’s less stressful.”
Art Tyomkin and Alexander Ge rounded out the podium in second and third place, with 117.34 and 116.71 overall points, respectively. Colton Moness finished fourth overall, with a total score of 111.01.
Yan was 6th at Novice Nationals - Skate Canada Trophy - last month:
1 Alexander Ge BC/YT 148.51 [49.41 in SP 99.10 in FS]
2 Art Tyomkin ON 145.18 [45.02 100.16]
4 Colton Moness ON 135.62 [48.90 86.72]
6 Bowen Yan BC/YT 126.63 [46.07 80.56]
