I hope once they are able to put some time between themselves and the event that they can be happy with their silver medal. It must be really disappointing to have been touted as the anointed ones and then have someone swoop in and take it from them They are still multi-time Olympians with more medals than most elite skaters achieve in their entire careers. They should be proud of that, although it will no doubt take a while for them to feel that way.

I am sad for Fear & Gibson, particularly after reading the reports here of how upset she is. 12th in the Free must be hard to take. I was all-in for Gilles & Poirier to be third and think they are the superior skaters, but F&G have been the ones who have used the system most effectively and it's a pity they weren't able to finish the event more strongly. I think they've said they are staying in for now though, so perhaps another World bronze in their future.

Eh, I thought it was pretty close. With Ciz's mistake in the twizzles and some other off moments, I would have put ChoBat ahead of them in the FD. But probably not by enough to overcome the RD difference since they didn't get the levels they needed in a few places and those calls were fair IMO.

The RD difference was only 0.46.

You feel the same as I do. I'm sorry, but I don't understand what the judges were looking at. Yes, in C/B's rhythm dance, one of Maddie's edges weren't correct, and I didn't even notice it. They must have went over it with a magnifying glass and fine-tooth comb to find that mistake.

What I did notice today during FB/C's free dance was that she (sorry, I can't think of her name right now and that's fine with me) screwed up on the first twizzles by stepping out and down before he did. I noticed right off the bat without the need of watching a replay.

I also would like to know how their presentation and technical abilities were better when he kept twirling her around and around up in the air nearly the whole time. I didn't see a lot of foot work other than their twizzles, and he had her back up in the air twirling her around and around again.

Maybe Evan should have twirled Maddie up in the air around and around like a bird or whatever.

Anyway Congrats to medalists on the podium. It's not right, and I'm not being partial. I also think that Piper and Paul were better than FB/C.

Sad for Fear for the mistake and Italians not getting a result they would want at home but at least they had the team event which was wonderful. I can't wait to see what Z&K can do the next years. I loved their RD but their FD is just okay to me. I think it is bleh music.

So I used the warmup time to read Zingas's Wikipedia entry and clearly she's brainy AND talented. Is she nice? I can't deal with one person being all the things.

^^^ This. The results were political and probably fixed, but they always are in ice dance. An upset at the Olympics has been telegraphed all season.

All the way up to early 2023, 3x world champions and Olympic silver would’ve been Chock and Bates’s wildest dream. Many of us didn’t think they would win NATIONALS in 2023. They got a raw deal here, but they overachieved relative to their skill. Plenty of better teams retired with far less hardware.

If P&C were going to come back anyway, this isn’t as much as an unforeseen surprise.

I am gutted for them. At the same time IMO it’s refreshing to see a mistake heavily penalized. I’d like to see mandatory negative GOE for visible errors. The top teams get away with way too much.

I have no issues with FBC getting the best SS mark. How they win the composition mark with such an open skate, easiest holds and least difficult lifts of anyone in the top 10 is the biggest question I've had all year (even if all they do is done really well). Obviously that comes with being a new team, but this program wasn't as technically difficult as P/C's programs in their competitive senior years together.
