2026 US Nationals Free Dance "Nix You"

I feel like I should be more excited to see the Shibs...but, I'm not.
I think I'd be more excited if there was more joy in their skating or if they had something new to offer. Like, I probably like a lot of us, was happy-but-skeptical of Alysa's comeback, but she brought something new. There's the growth you'd expect from someone who actually skated 16-20 years old, and joy, and despite what she says, no one skates that well and that consistently if they're not after hardware. I do think she IS skating for herself, but I also think she's skating because she has something to say (and should rightfully be rewarded for it). I don't know what the Shibutanis are trying to say. I'm not sure they know, besides arrogance? Entitlement? I recognize that's probably not entire fair, but that's how it comes off. I do give them props for actually skating--I was sure they'd withdraw before the FD. If they skate next year, I'll re-evaluate.

From the first half GOEs I will predict that C/B will get +6 GOE for everything. Oh well for the twizzles biff.

As someone who used to be a fan of them it kinda sucks. Trying not to let this comeback tarnish the good memories I have of them (mainly 2009 jr worlds and 2016 worlds).
I remember them fondly from 2011 Nationals right before they got their world bronze that year. I have always liked them, but I agree, this comeback is hard to reconcile.
