2026 US Nationals Rhythm Dance "Groove Is In the Snark"

Flag bearers, doing both RD and FD in the Team Event and then the Individual skate….too much. But maybe closing ceremonies 😄
They're not doing both segments of the TE, no matter how much the Team USA detractors who also would love nothing more than for ChoBat to wear themselves out in the TE ahead of the individual ice dance competition try to speak that into reality.

A bit bummed for Cui/Rogers too. I know the US field is deep, but that was not a 12th place skate. I'd probably have had them 7th.
I really hope they can move up the rankings next cycle and get scored more accurately. They were a highlight for me today.

Because it is.

I ditched the USA/NBC/Peacock broadcast. Are the Men really starting at 5:15 or do I have to come back earlier?
Yes, I'm sure they'll stick to the schedule. And it's 5:18pm in case you want that 3 extra minutes to be productive, lol.
Are they going to torture us with pairs? 90s RD wasn’t enough?
At the minimum we're getting ShiNagy. I'm guessing we'll at least get another replay of EfiMit too, but who knows? Maybe they'll show KamO instead, underwhelming program though it was.

I am really happy for S/N. Not like there’s anyone else stepping up. This SP really works for them and especially her.

We were sitting in a section full of skating insiders who refused to stand for Chock and Bates. Then we all started talking about how the judging had nothing to do with what actually happened on the ice.

It’s a common, well known concept. Everyone knows their scores are a joke.

Love me some CarPon, but scoring was right. Watching C/B, I just don't get it and never will. Z/K much better but I also know C/B have the cred and the longevity. So go to the Oly and then PLEASE retire. Enough already.
Best part? Shibs in 10th. Good on the judges.

 These people need to go on record, or explain why even the French judge at the GPF put them in first when politically they could have given the TES and PCS their detractors say they "deserved"

One of the things that annoys me the most about the overscoring is that it seems to make people really dislike the skaters and focus so much on the negatives. IMO C/B and C/P both skated better today than they did in some of their earlier assignments, even if their actual scores should have been significantly lower.

Also, I blame the tptb who stuck us with another terrible decade theme, a BPM requirement that makes everyone seem slow, and scoring that favors GOE for "choreo elements" above technique, clean turns and partnering.

Yeah, I've thought a lot about this. I used to really dislike Patrick Chan and it had nothing to do with his skating, which was excellent. It was the constant overscoring and propping him up when he had messy skates over other skaters who clearly outperformed him at a given event. I don't know if I'll ever get over Chan winning worlds after a two fall free skate over a clean, gorgeous skate from Denis Ten in 2013. I hate that judges do this, it's just not good for the sport.

To be honest I found all top 3 overscored but it’s hard to get upset. It’s nationals scoring.

Cpom had twizzle issues and ended up with level 4s with high GOE, and I don’t believe ZingKol truly had a level 4 pattern step. It is what it is.

The only team I think this really affects is Green/Parsons but I actually felt their program wasn’t skated to the best of their abilities today either so it’s a bit of a wash.
