2025–26 Canadian Men: News and Updates

Skate Ontario article on Tracy Wainman & Roman Sadovsky "tackling another Olympic season":

Skate Ontario article on Stephen Gogolev

Stephen Gogolev just won Nebelhorn - first in both programs. Roman placed 5th overall, less than 3 points off the podium. He was 5th in the short and 2nd in the long.

These men are doing everything they can in the fall season to state their case for why returning Keegan should not get the Olympics spot. Even if Keegan wins Canadians, I think SC is going to have some thinking to do with the results Roman (winner of Cranberry Cup) and Stephen (winner here) are putting out.

Stephen's scores here would have won last year's GP France, been 3rd at NHK, Cup of China, and 4CC, and would have been 4th at Euros.

I agree, all the other years they have also used 'body of work' and Keegan won't have one. However, having said that.. if the others don't bring this to nationals and Keegan does? Then the bets are off.

I forget he is only 20!

Torgachev had a good short. The free had issues bur wasn`t a wash. If he become consistent on the 4T, 4T3T, 3A, 3A incombination he has a good change of making Olys. Just keep putting him out there

If they all make the podium (which wouldn't be surprising), it's going to be very interesting and may lead to a 4CC skate-off, which is not something you really want to do just 10 days before the start of the Games. It also means that the GP series will be very important for Roman and Stephen this year too, especially for Stephen as he currently has just 1 assignment.

oh that does notch up the stakes.. didn't realize Stephen just had one? So these challenges will be key! A clean Roman I am still putting at the top, but Stephen's technical is better and he is improving his second mark all the time. I am surprised Keegan isn't doing some domestic competitions like the Podium Pathway invitational this weekend even if he would have been the only senior man there are some good general skaters there like Lia Cho and Breken - although I see Breken has withdrawn - the point being he could be on the radar.

Does Keegan have to do the Challenge event or can he go straight to Nationals?

I expect he'll wind up with a 2nd assignment, unless one of the Nepela men currently with just 1 come from out of nowhere and blow Stephen's Nebelhorn score out of the water.

I don't foresee there being a 4CCs skate-off for the Olympic spot - not with Canada only having 1 spot, so that man is going to need to be prepared to compete in both the TE and then the Men's individual event in the first week of the Olympics.

Not if he gets an international assignment within a week (or whatever the rule is) of Challenge which I predict will happen.
yes I knew that but based on what Keegan said (that he would be doing the challenge etc) I assumed no international for him?
