Love, Balls and Courting: Tennis V

Lorenzo 😭 but I think he was not really physically ready. Still struggling with his injury from Roland-Garros. Sad to see Denis out too. But a good win for Victoria Mboko over 25th-seeded Magdalena Frech, on Canada Day no less 🇨🇦

You'd think tennis players are accustomed to the heat. I can't imagine it's hotter in Wimbledon than it gets in Melbourne for the Australian Open.
I don't think it was the heat as much as the surface, and some injury issues that were the cause of the upsets - many of the players who lost, Gauff, and Zverev, for example, are not strong grass-court players.

Well... players expect extreme heat in Melbourne. Not so much in London. It just seems like there have been a rash of early upsets this year, so I was speculating that at least some of it might be due to the heat.

Mboko and Felix Auger-Aliassime both lost today. No Canadians left in the singles draw for either the men or the women. Of course, my favorite Canadian is Denis so yes, I was pretty sad to see him out in the first round.

Maybe? But day 3 was not as warm with a lot of upsets too. Today was 26C/79F which is kinda perfect.

Today was a bit brutal for both the Brits and Americans in the tourney. (((Draper fans)))
