I don't think they have found the sniper. Others are wounded, they are fighting a wildfire and other people were on the mountain. Not good.

Update - they have found a man dead with a weapon nearby and it appears that it may be the sniper as they're lifting the shelter in place order.

Two firefighters are confirmed dead and at least one other is in surgery.

Sounds like he had a LOT of issues with his mental health. So bad that his family had a no-contact order against him.

Clearly...wanting to kill anyone is off but choosing firefighters? I think about the Sandy Hook shooter wanting to kill those angels. It never makes sense.

I'll never forget Sandy Hook. One of my college classmates lost her daughter that day.

Kootenai County Sheriff Bob Norris told a news conference on Monday that Roley had once aspired to be a fireman.

The suspect's grandfather also told NBC News his grandson had "actually really respected law enforcement".

Dale Roley said his grandson "had been in contact to get a job with a fire department", and "wanted to be part of a team that he sort of idolised".

"He loved firefighters," said Mr Roley. "It didn't make sense that he was shooting firefighters. Maybe he got rejected or something."

Sheriff Norris said the homeless suspect had attacked fire crews after they asked him to move his vehicle, which he had been living in.

It really doesn't sound like this was politically motivated.
