They've clarified it on the schedule page. It says if you want to stay through the first competition event, just show them your practice pass AND your first event ticket, and they'll give you a wristband.

I thought Scott went a bit long, but I had no problem with the content... just one agnostic's opinion. And I didn't get the "hosts were too perky" vibe, I think they were a bit happy to see the place so FULL. There were people in the RAFTERS! Up where you probably need supplemental oxygen!
