I can't see them doing that. It's already hard enough to keep boys in the sport as they tend to get made fun of. Competing against girls and losing to them is hardly going to help.
I've never understood why production thinks starving the contestants is better for the show. We saw in season 2 what happened when everyone was completely malnourished -- they had no energy to even leave the camp, their hair was falling out, etc. I really doubt people are watching Survivor...
They definitely would have a bye. I think everyone in the event will qualify for nationals given there should be 15 spots and there are 12 competitors + G/P, L/L, F/A. I assume they're competing because they want more experience or feedback or something.
