It's interesting to see where everyone stands right now. Out of curiosity, what would be take to be considered for the team event? Would it mean passing Jason going forward (unlikely) or scoring above 250? Andrew and Tomoki have both come pretty close, so it's always possible.
That makes sense, it wouldn't be fair to allow some skaters to pick their assignments and not others. Your ideas about Gogolev maybe having visa problems or being injured are more plausible.
Would Gogolev have had the option of turning it down and then maybe getting Lucas's Finlandia spot instead? That would give him more time to train and it wouldn't be back to back with Skate Canada.
Even Jason's lower scores this season compared to his PB are still the highest of the men other than Ilia. I can't see him not being named as long as he is healthy when the team is picked. Many of us are rooting for Max, but he does seem to be very much a long shot at least right now.
I agree about Hiwatashi, he may be Torgashev's main competition for that third spot based on the scores so far. He would still have a ways to go since he didn't medal at Nationals but we'll see how the GP events play out.
It's a shame about Camden's injury, but maybe he can recover and go to Nationals. I didn't think he had much of a chance to make the Olympic team either since he hasn't competed this season.
Same here, I thought it was announced in the magazine but not "official" until the US Championships. I agree about Max, he deserves full credit for having the strength to keep on skating after such a tragic loss.
I searched online and couldn't find any results about Max winning the award (?). It shows Ilia winning for both 2024 and 2025, but it's an AI summary so maybe not accurate. I guess it may not be officially announced until the US Championships.
That makes sense, it will be difficult for Broussard to compete with the skaters you mentioned this season. However, he has the advantage of being only 19. He could be a major force and in the mix for the next couple of Olympic cycles.
Pushkin was around much earlier than the others and may still be considered the father of modern Russian literature. I have read some of his poetry, but Dostoevsky and Tolstoy's novels are still studied in schools and they are more widely known in the US (Chekhov for his plays).
