Liu really lit up the arena. She rocked it like she always does. Sold the program. Enjoyed it. YAY Liu! ETA: Luuuurve her hair!
NHK commentator Akiko Suzuki on Liu: (sighing) She makes every element look so easy. How she can skate so relaxed and full of joy is a mystery to me. (sighs again)...
Post-FS interview:
Sakamoto: (was asked about the FS. At first, she was smiling but after hearing the question, she couldn't hold back the tears)
I couldn't 100% deliver the program. While I regret that, I'm glad to be able to win the silver.
I wanted perfection - but wasn't able to. That lead...
Well, I'll admit I forgot to breathe during Miura/Kihara's skate. That was brilliant. Exquisite. Just completely in their own league. Damn!
I misheard commentator Narumi Takahashi's "Shinjiatteiru (M/K have faith in each other)" to "Shinjatteru (they are dead)" LOL
Kaori Sakamoto leaving...
I enjoyed Hase/Volodin. The last group all had small (and sometimes big) mistakes.
Miura/Kihara post-SP interview:
Kihara: Um, well, it wasn't an "acceptable/good" mistake. I don't know what happened. Well, things happen. Despite a huge mistake, we were able to keep the scores above 70. Ah...
Shaidorov's performance was superb. He was on fire. I could feel his determination through the TV screen. Went out there with nothing to lose.
I laughed a bit when commentator Tatsuki Machida mumbled "Something unexpected happen. He's upgraded the program"
Sato doing Shaidorov's ending pose...
NHK interview:
Kao Miura: (looking sulky - or should I say upset?)
The scores were too low, especially the PCS. That was almost the scores when I admit myself that the performance was absolutely awful - and today's FS was not that bad. Not the scores I wanted to show to people.
(His coach was...
Well, another great event. Was torn between the 3 teams.
Loved Zingas/Kolesnik. And surprisingly, Reed/Ambrulevisius (hoping I spelled his name correctly).
Gutted for Pears/Gibson. :(
NHK had Tatsuki Machida as their commentator. While I like him, I cringe a little bit when he starts...
Every time I watch the Kagiyamas in the K&C makes me do a double take. Oh the genes! LOL
Great competition. Congrats to the skaters. Enjoyed watching it.
The first thing Kagiyama said to the interviewer on how he feels after the SP (Japanese always asks this) was
"I had (a beat) FUN"...
