ITA actually. I'm surprised this particular podcast seems so informal and "light" about something relatively serious. About 15 mins in but not sure I'll finish it.
I've never listened to Gymcastic before, and I'm only about 10 minutes in, but I'm confused as to why the main host seems so bubbly and happy whilst talking about sensitive issues? Am I missing something?
I don't know anything really about NCAA, apart from Miss Val. And I've always had a fake/phoney vibe from her. Yet she seemed absolutely beloved. Has anyone else spoken out about her?
Yea, i don't think I even meant to write Belu. I was just thinking of Romanian officials in general. It was 7am tbf
Still, my point remains the same.
And thanks for the info @cris
This comparison is a bit arbitrary. I feel sorry for both of them; they went through a lot, and much of their gymnastics life was probably out of their hands. AM certainly wouldn't have falsified her age herself. Belu got her parents to do that.
Liu Xuan and Yang Yun had particularly beautiful FX's IIRC.
Even Olaru looked bored of her own gymnastics.
Pretty amazing to think that Milo, Gogean, Amanar & Raducan, not to mention Comaneci, Silivas, Szabo and Iordache never won a World AA title... yet Olaru did.
Poor Gina Gogean. She seems to be the go-to gymnast to "highlight" from that era
I actually liked her more than Milosovici tbh...
For my taste, I much prefer the 93-00 quads to the 01-08 quads. I really lost interest in the sport from Sydney to Beijing.
Very well said. Tbh, listening to the podcasts, and watching recent documentaries, so much about US gymnastics is just totally cringe; from the coaching and Nassar obviously, but even to some of the peripheral characters, the parents, the media coverage, the commentary, the fandom, even the way...
