I don’t think there is a thread yet to discuss the locations and travel for Skate Canada International 2026 and Canadian National Figure Skating Championships 2027, so starting this thread to discuss any rumors and future confirmations about location details!

Been thinking about this for a while as last year the locations were announced late January 2025, 2 months earlier than where we are at now.

Skate Canada is likely announcing locations soon as they posted this teaser video in social media channels today about the location for SCI:

Hopefully the link works. Stephen guessed Vancouver and they said “close”. I assumed BC as well based on recent event locations. If not Vancouver, then assuming Victoria or Kelowna?

I thought a BC location for Skate Canada would be a lock (especially with the Alberta ban) but Everett getting SA is giving me second thoughts. I don't mind Kelowna getting SC, but I really do not want to drive to Kelowna in January.

I was thinking the same. With an assumed BC location for SCI, I can see many skaters electing to do the SkAM/SCI double.
I suspect that was SC's thinking, about both skaters and fans. Sigh, I was hoping for East Coast too. Looks like my only skating comp of the year will be (U.S.) Nats, unless 4CC is held in North America.

Well, it seems like we'll know well in advance of the GP Assignments meeting where SCI is and the skaters will have plenty of time to decide if they want to get their GPs done early and back-to-back.

I think it's easier for fans, that's for sure, especially if it winds up being Victoria - the days between the two events and the time of year would make for a nice side trip exploring the San Juan Islands.

SC just posted on Instagram some emojis to help the guessing game.

SCI seems it has to be Kelowna with the grapes and the mountain emojis.

Nationals looks like a bigger city? Air plane, shopping and dinner plate emojis. Montreal maybe? Laval I would assume.

I have been thinking GTA for Nationals. Mississauga?

Montreal is a good guess too.

I was thinking (and hoping) for Mississauga as that’s a 10 mins drive for me!! Airport, shopping, city centre make sense.

Could be Montreal too but Gatineau and Laval held the last 2 nationals right? So has to be outside of Quebec.

Are there hotels in walking distance to the Hershey Center?

Kelowna can be tricky to get to for a lot of people due to weather etc

Even the last weekend of October?

Kelowna is a 5 hour drive from Everett if you go up I-5 to Bellingham and then head inland. There are also at least a couple of non-stop flights from Seattle to Kelowna daily. Hopefully that will encourage fans from other parts of the US & Canada to consider a longer trip with SkAm and SCI book-ending a few days of exploring the PNW between competitions. The weather won't be quite as glorious as it is during the summer but the end of October is, usually, still pretty nice.

It's been announced--Kelowna and Mississauga!

After visiting the Prairies last year, Skate Canada International will take place in Kelowna, British Columbia, this fall at Prospera Place from October 30 to November 1, 2026. Last held in Kelowna in 2019, the event will once again welcome top athletes from Canada and around the world as part of the International Skating Union (ISU) Grand Prix of Figure Skating series. Tickets for Skate Canada International will go on sale in late April.

Following a sold-out event in Gatineau this past January, the Canadian National Skating Championships will return to Ontario for the first time in four years. Scheduled for January 12-17, 2027, the competition will be held at Paramount Fine Foods Centre in Mississauga, marking the city’s third time hosting the event. The venue is a familiar one for many of Canada’s top athletes, having served as the home of Skate Canada’s annual High Performance Camp since 2010.

I will be going to Kelowna. By that point, I will have moved to Abbotsford (unless my new job sucks, but I will be somewhere in Metro Vancouver regardless). Looking forward to it!

Well I'm really glad they delayed the ticket sale date for Skate America - while it was hard to justify a trip to the PNW just for Skate America I think I might be able to make it work to go to Skate America and Skate Canada! I have some smaller cities in the PNW I've been wanting to check out (Olympia, Victoria) and I might be able to make both events into 1 bigger trip.

I'm a little embarrassed to admit I've never heard of Kelowna, but it looks lovely. I need to look into this more, but I'm kind of excited about the Everett + Kelowna combo!

Definitely going to Canadian Nationals since I live in Mississauga, so convenient!! @fan and I will be there :)

Seriously thinking of Kelowna for SCI. My cousin lives there so I could visit. Might do the double with SkAm and stop at Calgary on the way home after both events to visit the bestie!!

Not really. There are a couple that are 2.4km from the arena (as per Google maps), which is doable if you you fancy a good walk, but not great for the trip back at 11:00 pm after the events are over. I usually rent a car.

I've flown into there before to go to Penticton. Flights were easy but I'm on the West Coast.

I'm actually tempted to go to this because I love that area, but Skate America is also going to be easy and cheap (maybe even cheaper) so it really doesn't make sense.

Go to both!! :)

I've already booked my hotel. 😁 Thrilled that it's Kelowna, one of my favourite places to visit.
I just proactively booked my hotel too, as there are a couple that are walking distance to the arena! The Delta looks beautiful with waterfront views. The rate seems to come down a decent amount when booking for 3 nights. SCI had no gala last year with events not ending until the afternoon, so planning for a Monday departure to make things easier. Never been to Kelowna before so this would be a first :)
