This was revealed in an article on Monday by Eurosport. The press department of the Budapest Chief Prosecutor's Office informed the newspaper that "the Budapest Police Headquarters will be closed in November 2025."
The case files and the complaint against the suspicion were examined by the Budapest 4th and 15th District Prosecutor's Office and the complaint was rejected as unfounded.
Válasz Online named the child as Sebestyén on Tuesday. One of the parents, Tünde Zsuffa, mother of József Berei Mózes, the Hungarian champion who also participated in last year's junior world championship, also posted about the case on Facebook.
"There was a former European champion coach who ruined the careers of young athletes. I knew that there would be consequences if I took up the fight with her, but I felt that I had nothing to lose. The behavior of the coach, Júlia Sebestyén, could not remain a secret! The politician husband tried to put pressure on me. He complained at work, visited my friends to make me look like an offended mother, and what hurt the most, he didn't spare Pepe either. They wanted to make it impossible, they intimidated me several times, and blackmailed me with my son. They told me to think about what I was doing. They suggested that it was better to remain silent. But I was incapable of doing that," he wrote.
For the sake of clarity: Sebestyén's husband is Csaba Gór, one of the strong men of Fidesz in Budapest. Ferencváros, led by Fidesz party director Gábor Kubatov, signed Sebestyén in 2023.
Zsuffa continued by saying that he fought so that children could not be humiliated and abused with impunity, so that talents could not be destroyed, and most importantly: everything could not be covered up just because, as he wrote, someone in power was behind it. "There were those who accused me of lies, insulted me behind fake profiles, and did everything they could to discredit me. They declared my son talentless, as if this could nullify his work, his dreams, and the sweat of years."
Not only did he and his son testify at the police station, but many others did too. In a previous article, we quoted from the statements that those involved submitted to the MOKSZ disciplinary board.
"His back got bruised from a bite and Juli threatened him not to tell anyone. Unfortunately, I didn't get in the car right away and bring him home, and even after that, I took the coach's side for a long time or didn't speak up in the new cases, which is why I have to face my conscience," a parent self-critically stated about a 2018 incident.
We reached out to Júlia Sebestyén in writing, but she has not yet responded. We will update our article as soon as she answers our questions. Among other things, we asked her whether her club, Ferencváros, knew about the case and whether she could hold daily training sessions for the children.
