2026 US Nationals Men's SP "Je Suis Malanin"

I mean, I like toothless. But that rain of stuffed animals seems like it’s more for somebody who has an abnormal love of toothless.
That was surely promotional. It was all from one side. Could see one worker throwing multiple, but it looks like they also passed some around to be thrown. 30 identical ones from one side of the rink and zero from the other? Plus, one over-sized one waiting for him. Follow the money.

I'm pretty sure it was fan-organized. They did the same at Worlds last year, but this was the first time that they were throwing out the oversized ones that really got everyone's attention.

I'm pretty sure it was fan-organized.
And all of those fans ended up on the same side of the rink? Seems statistically improbable. Although, I could see them wanting a big show, so, get them all on the camera side. But the joy of throwing it yourself is lost. Idk… Ok, I’ve gone from full skeptic to mixed opinion (but still leaning towards PR).

Judges Protocols - https://ijs.usfigureskating.org/lea...------QUAL000100--_JudgesDetailsperSkater.pdf

If I suggest that the judges might mark the Free Skate according to how they skate instead of
:bribe: , will I get laughed off stage? :cautious:

Also, there aren't going to be anything thrown from where the judges are. :D

I am a huge HTTYD fan, love me some Toothless! That was awesome. I was thinking of Dick Button saying "it's raining teddy bears" for Michelle. Ilia is everything. I agree with Johnny, I never imagined I would see a skater with that level of skill, ever. Glad I lived to see it, lol. if Jason had the tech skill and had achieved quads, he would be up there too as a phenomenal skater. Then again he really is simply because he has the artistry skill that is unparalleled. We are going to have an amazing team for the US for the Olympics.

I was sitting in the section where the Toothless stuffies came from, reps from NBC were handing them out to everyone.
Well, that's a shame to hear, even if it was really fun to watch as it happened.

I'm pretty sure it was fan-organized. They did the same at Worlds last year, but this was the first time that they were throwing out the oversized ones that really got everyone's attention.

It was a USFS/Build a Bear/NBC organized promo. They came down to our row and the ones in front of and behind us to let us know about it when group 2 finished. The many boxes were at the top of the staircase supervised by other USFS folks. Then they passed them out to us during the ice cut and told us to keep them hidden until after he skated.

And Rusty made an announcement on the Jumbotron during the ice cut before the final group for people to throw Toothless on the ice after Ilia skated. Said it was a "surprise" for him. I wondered if it was fan-organized but then when I saw the commercial played on the Jumbotron after they were thrown, I realized it was an NBC thing.

Surprises are always most surprising when they're announced beforehand on a Jumbotron.

I just finished it all, was a good competition, but I couldn’t concentrate. There was some dude with brown hair that stood right there by the kiss and cry that I just kept saying who the heck is the strapping man that’s just standing there the whole time. I don’t think he’s a coach …. he must be part of production or something… Oh, my goodness.
