2025 Skate Canada Rhythm Dance PBP - I'm Too Spooky

I'm ALL IN for a Rupaul program. And they even 'turn to the right' with the music :-P

Same story as always when it comes to basics- he's always so sturdy and on the edge, who knows what she's doing with the short crossovers and zero speed but they make it work.

As a theme, I think I may like it best out of any of FB/C, C/B, and F/G, but they too are going to end up way behind FB/C by February IMO.

Piper Gilles/Paul Poirier 🇨🇦
Coach: Carol Lane, Juris Razgulajevs, Jon Lane
Music: Supermodel, I’m Too Sexy

Sequential Twizzles W:2 M:4 (W:4 M:4 after review)
Pattern Dance Type Step Sequence 2
Midline Step Sequence W:3 M:3
Choreo Rhythm Sequence

Rotational Lift 4

Paul is styled differently than I remember seeing him before, and it really works. The performance was cautious, and they were slow. I don't think they had the level of sass required.

85.38 = 1st Place

LaLas are hands down the best skaters in this event but in terms of the theme and a program, I didn't love it. Even with the mistake, I might have that behind the Lithuanians.

I almost respect the CarPoms for giving this theme the FU it deserves. They're like, we're ice dancers, we're smooth, we weren't alive in the 90s, we're going to skate a Short Dance and let that be that. Forget #3, Z/K might be eyeing that second spot on the Nationals podium.

I need some Roger Rabbit moves. Some Macarena. Electric slide boogie. I would take Achy Breaky/Boot Scootin Boogy at this point. I'm kind of surprised some of the Canadian or American teams didn't go a country route--there were A LOT of 90s country line dance that would fit the beat requirement and look more natural in ice dance.

We can always count on a bit of a WTF program by G/P that somehow works. I'm not sure who he is supposed to be, his costume must be a reference to something I don't know about. But this had a concept and a style. They both had shaky moments though.

hmmm, underwhelming program from G/P. They didn't werk. So much literal lyrical handography and then nothing during all the "turn to the left! turn to the right!". I would expect them (their choreography) to be so much fiercer than this.

The reverse cunniliftus was the most notable part of the program

I think it can be a good program, but it's not there yet for me
Which means it won't ever get there because they rarely develop and grow their programs as the season progresses. What we see at SCI is what we get at Worlds.
