2025 Grand Prix Assignments

Whelp, the Pairs GP assignments are going to be updated again...

Ghilardi/Ambrosini are next in line for the vacated CoC spot, and Beccari/Guarise will get the vacated NHK spot. Hocke/Kunkel may very well wind up with a 2nd assignment at CoC since Wang/Zhu are injured still.

ETA - looks like the post was deleted but it said that Sui/Han have announced on Weibo that they are withdrawing from all events this season as Han Cong is not recovered enough to compete.

I'm not seeing it? Would be something, though, if CFSA went through all that, and then this was the result.

The OP on X was deleted. I'm not sure if anything is on Weibo since I don't have an account there.

Honestly, it wouldn't surprise me one bit if this was the result. I always felt that Sui/Han were going to be the backup plan if ZhaHua didn't come back with strong performances at the Interclub comps this summer. As it is, I think ZhaHua are in a strong position to earn one of the pairs spots at the OQE.

On xiaohongshu someone posted a screenshot of a Russian website claiming this. So doesn't seem a domestic source, and am not sure how Russia would know.

The rumour/gossip has indeed been that Cong was brought back against his will, and Sui/Li was forcibly split, Han hasn't recovered. But there's nothing official. Let's wait.

There’s no hubbub on Weibo at all. I took a look and there is a weibo post that Han Cong made on 8/15/23 (exactly two years ago today) saying that he couldn’t continue competing due to insufficient injury recovery, so maybe OP got the date confused and thought it was a new post.

On Part 3 of Pairs Lore on The Runthrough, there was a lot of enthusiasm for their comeback, with one of Hughes, Rippon, and KMT choosing them to win in Milano, plus the hope that time-off has allowed both Sui and Han to recover from their many nagging injuries.

I hope if they do come back, and someone misinterpreted a two-year-old post, that he’s actually healed.

There was a Russian source, as @coralline also said. It wasn't misinterpretation of a post solely - that seems to have something to do with what was posted on twitter.

Grids have been updated to show the CFSA host picks for CoC -

With Keegan Messign announcing his return to competition next season, where does that put his chances of getting a GP assignment?

I came here to ask the same. And there's no Skate Canada host pick left.

I suppose, theoretically, he could be added to the Alternates list, but I'm not sure if there's a deadline for inclusion on that. I guess we'll find out if he winds up being assigned.

The third CHN pairs home spot has been given up, and Ghilardi & Ambrosini pick up their second event.
Well, CoC is going to be a fun little face-off between the 3 Italian teams. No, it's not their Olympic decider, the FISG still has their complicated formula, but it's definitely going to be a high-pressure competition for all of them, especially BecGuar and GhiAmbro.

Also, BoMim are not participating in Canada's High Performance Camp this weekend due to injury. Keep an eye on whether or not they compete anywhere in late September/early October, otherwise that's a spot that could wind up being relinquished.

Updated Alternates List:

Geynish/Chigirev are out of Skate America too
Wessenberg/Strekalin, Fradji/Fourneaux, Lagouge/Caffa and Mayindu got final host pick at GP de France
Well, Beccari/Guarise are first in line for the SkAm spot vacated by GeyChig.

I'm a little surprised the FFSG gave Wessenberg/Strekalin or Mayindu those host spots given their poor performances at French Masters this past weekend, but whatever. Good for FraForn and LaCaffa.

So I believe Tomoki Hiwatashi would go to top of men alternate list, Saki Miyake top of women, Nagaoka/Moriguchi top of pairs, Mcbeath/Parkman 4th in pairs alt list, and L/L to top in Dance.

I believe Sami Miyake won’t be added as she wasn’t in the top 75 season’s best scores for last year. If you’re not on that list, you need to win your challenger to get added to the alternates list.

Nagaoka/Moriguchi would not go to the top of the Pairs alternates list. Beccari/Guarise are at the top with their 2023-24 SB score of 199.17 used since they did not compete last season. Once the USFS fills the vacant spot at SkAm created by GeyChig's withdrawal, then Nagaoka/Moriguchi would be at the top. However, seeing as Japan doesn't have any other pairs teams & they have a TBD spot at NHK, it doesn't make sense to not give it to Nagaoka/Moriguchi at this point.

Thanks, yep that makes sense, dashed that off in a hurry so basically once B/G get G/C's spot (I keep assuming that is already done but just not posted yet) and N/M get the NHK spot, then Hocke/Kunkel should be up next, followed by McBeath/Parkman
