Deleted or unable to link, like the earlier Tai post.

Why am I not shocked. Congrats to the American team - I assume Japan as well? Well done and deserved.

I still can’t hold Valieva responsible for the crappy people that were doing this. She was just a kid. We can throw Trusova‘s meltdown too.. so, so sad 😔

So now winning the women's portion of the team event at Beijing is only worth 9 points but the men's is worth 10.

Great job ISU.

I bet there's a legal argument to be made around discrimination here.
I was thinking the same thing this morning. I don't think the discrimination was deliberate but does that matter if it exists? I am assuming they go by CAS ruling and wondered what their legal standing is on this issue.

Ah. So that is the reasoning....

Well, that kind of makes sense. I think someone who has more investment in this than I should check it.
How are the points per even calculated? Because if it is defined as "number of participants", then yeah, women event would count as 9 and then this decision makes sense.
It makes no sense. There were other disciplines where countries didn’t compete, but the winner still got 10 points. Countries were eligible for the team event if they had entries in three disciplines. Because of this, there were disciplines with only nine entrants, but again, the winner got 10 points. It makes zero sense to only award nine points for winning the women’s event. It is not consistent with how they handled the other disciplines with nine skaters.

I can find you worse. I can literally picture the empty vodka bottles next to some of the people who were asked for quotes :scream:

The linked Italian newspaper article places the blame squarely on Valieva's entourage, which is nice to see.
Yes if there are people who want the blame not to be placed on "the little girl" they can go to where the blame should be focused.

Oh yes, not a word when our skaters win medals but a full page when a "scandal" happens...

Anyway, I won't bet the article is fully reliable especially this quote doesn't make much sense to me
"The ISU coucil will meet in 9 days to decide how to modify the standings of 2022 Olympics team event, and the IOC will define the medals assignment during a meeting in March"
Anyone who has been following this issue more closely can understand this?

Everything I have read, seen, heard the past few years from Russian athletes, the federation and fans regarding these results has been that anything short of complete absolution for KV and the gold medals to the Russian team would be a huge injustice and obvious anti-Russian bias. I hardly think the ISU awarding them bronze appeases anyone and I fail to see the point.

I am so very happy for the US team who I think have conducted themselves admirably - as have all the other athletes who train and compete clean.
