Gold medals and world titles are awesome but I also love seeing Vika and Nikita look so happy. That's a fun exhibition for them. I'm normally not as into galas, but this one has been really enjoyable b/c you can see how happy all the skaters are to have had the chance to be at this competition and to get one more chance to skate for an audience.

Is this Fleabag Season 2?
Were you referring to Jason's EX to "Melancholy" by Alexey Kosenko? It was a spellbinding performance and was choreographed by Rohene Ward.

LOVE LOVE Shoma's Baroque EX from this season that was choreographed by Kenji Miyamoto. According to his wiki, the classical piece is Concerto in C minor for Cello, Strings and Basso continuo, RV 401 by Antonio Vivaldi, performed by Yo-Yo Ma and Amsterdam Baroque Orchestra.
love the announcer's enthusiasm for world peace same
For those wondering, this was in response to Teams Russia & Japan's group number to "We Are The World" that closed the first half.

I was able to stay awake for Hanyu's touching EX that he also skated at Worlds (glad he had a chance to perform this in Japan):
I thought it was very poignant that Hanyu chose to bring back his program to the song "Hana wa Saku" / "Flowers will Bloom" (info about the song: http://www.nhk.or.jp/ashita/english...L]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZcRlanbiA24
Yay, just discovered that Taiwan's ELTA Sports has uploaded Hanyu's EX performances from WTT! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IxEfoTvkCIk
His encore was part of his "Let Me Entertain You" SP.

ELTA Sports' 2-minute recap of WTT EX (clips of Hanyu, Chen, Shcherbakova and Hawayek/Baker's "Swan" :)): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fs797Q-KL5Q

Re-posting here from Nathan's fan thread:
Not surprisingly, Nathan opened his Rocketman exhibition program (overnight in Osaka) with the 4T+1Eu+3F combo that he missed in his WTT free skate ;): https://www.instagram.com/tv/CNzlFRhJEb2/

His encore was part of his Caravan SP from last season: https://www.instagram.com/tv/CNzppvfpQO4/

:). It was a joke about the Della Monica/Guarise exhibition and its resemblance to a storyline in Season 2 of Fleabag (a show that is definitely not for everyone, but worth checking out).

What?! How can this award not go to the French team?
Maybe they gave it to Italy for giving it their all and scoring pretty well despite being one team member short? I suppose that maybe counts as a sort of team spirit?

Team Italy did have a pretty good box, and fun dances etc. in the Kiss n Cry but I thought Team France would definitely win!
I'm pleased for the Italians though, they are my favourites and they seemed really thrilled to win.

"In the [World Team Trophy] player area, there was a national competition even on the whiteboard.
It is filled with illustrations and messages that are full of individuality from each country [CAN & FRA, RUS & USA].
The Japanese team board will be released tomorrow."
2 images of the Team Japan whiteboard (first one features Kaori's drawings): https://twitter.com/skatingjapan/status/1383633769748328449
"This time too, Team Japan's board is a character art by Kaori Sakamoto designer. Each player is well represented!"

Team Russia’s triumphal return to Russian soil, to cheering crowds in Vladivostok! As usual, Russia One cameras on board the Aeroflot.

This is a stunning program. 🤩 I was wondering how it might be converted to a competitive program, but unfortunately it would likely be difficult to incorporate numerous quads and maintain the integrity.

Is there anywhere to watch the WTT gala? I didn't see it on Peacock, or maybe it took a few hours to post. That said, I guess I could check...

Tangentially related to WTT - FIGURE SKATERS MAKE SPECIAL DELIVERY TO PARALYMPIAN TATYANA MCFADDEN by Karen Rosen (April 29): https://www.teamusa.org/News/2021/A...cial-Delivery-To-Paralympian-Tatyana-McFadden
Excerpts:
The American team flew home from the World Team Trophy in Japan last week with silver medals and a cardboard box containing McFadden’s new carbon racing frame.
“We all felt like we were a part of bringing some precious cargo home,” said team captain Jason Brown.
They posed for a photo with the box at Tokyo’s Narita Airport, beaming behind their masks.
“I was like, ‘Please get a picture of everybody,’” said McFadden, “because I’m so grateful for them, that they took this in and they’re going to be bringing it back to the U.S. - because I’m out of options and I need this wheelchair.”
McFadden posted the photo on Instagram, writing, “When we say we are one team we are really one team.” She thanked the U.S. Figure Skating team and each of the athletes, adding, “International shipping has been tough during this time but you all made it happen.”
U.S. Figure Skating enlisted the help of the Japanese figure skating association. After the box holding the frame was shipped from the manufacturer to Osaka, it was allowed to come into the athletes’ hotel. The team carried it to the airport and, and, as a bonus, [McFadden's mom] Deborah said the $200 excess baggage fee was the lowest amount she’d ever paid getting the chair into the U.S. [...]
“The U.S. skating team was so fortunate to have the opportunity to compete in Japan last week,” Brown said. “We know how rare travel is right now – and competition. We all struggled this year in a different way.
“We are so thrilled, so excited, that we could be a very small part of getting her equipment. There are so many things that we take for granted, so it was really, really cool to help each other out in this moment.”
McFadden tweeted 2 photos after unpacking the box (April 28): https://twitter.com/TatyanaMcFadden/status/1387541913998401548
