2021 ISU World Team Trophy, April 15-18, Osaka, Japan

Prize money info is on page 7 of the WTT Announcement (linked in post #1):

All prize money in favor of the Skaters/Couples will be paid via bank transfer by the organizing ISU Member (JSF) to the ISU Members of the Skaters/Couples of the awarded teams immediately after the ISU World Team Trophy based on the following scale:
1st placed team: US$ 200’000
2nd placed team: US$ 170’000
3rd placed team: US$ 160’000
4th placed team: US$ 150’000
5th placed team: US$ 140’000
6th placed team: US$ 130’000.

Deadline for entries by name is Tuesday, March 30, 2021 – 20:00 h (JST), local time Osaka / JPN.
Thanks for that! Between World standing points and prize money, I would assume Karen and K/F would for sure go. I feel for the Canadians that went to Worlds. While I understand the reasoning between not sending them to WTT it seems like a missed opportunity to me, for a plethora of reasons, especially pair and dance teams.

Alexa Knierim confirmed on her IG story last night/this morning that she and Brandon's next event is WTT.

P/C have skipped the WTT before, so I guess they don't want the $$$ that badly.

Anyway, the WTT is especially useful for lower-ranked skaters. There's not much prize money to be had these days, and few opportunities for them to do shows, even other normal circumstances. For skaters like Serna and Mazzara this has to be a super-exciting opportunity.
And a good prep for Nebelhorn since one of them is very likely going to go unless MBM has an extremely rapid recovery.

do we know the deadline for the teams - I'm so curious who Canada is sending because of the quarantine rules here in Canada and none of the current world team going.

So we should know soon....

China has very strict quarantine rules for those returning from abroad, so I suspect this could be part of it.

ETA: found this here: https://www.china-airlines.com/nz/en/discover/news/travel-advisory/Immigration-Information

Quarantine measures :
• All inbound passengers arriving in Beijing are required to receive nucleic acid tests and undergo 14 -day centralized quarantine by bearing the relevant fees themselves.
• After the centralized quarantine, passengers are required to quarantine themselves for further 7 days at home or the quarantine hotel , and carry out the self-health monitoring for 7 days afterwards.

So athletes going to worlds and WTT would have to do a total of 6(!) weeks of quarantine, so I understand why the Chinese Fed declined to go to WTT
Yes that's it - but I felt WTT is close enough time-wise that they could go straight to the host city and quanratine instead of returning to China first?!

That's something I'd choose to do, go straight to Japan and stay there until the competition. Then again, I'm not the one competing and I'm not the one paying for the extended accommodation so it doesn't matter what I say.

I’m wondering if FB/S will go for Canada as they are in Denmark now.

Maybe they will stay there for a bit before going to Japan?

Pretty sure Canada is not sending anyone who is doing the 14 day quarantine. Pair should be matte and Fernand who were second at challenge

My guess:
Men: Nam and Roman for sure
Dance: Soucisse/Firus
Ladies: Gabby, ?
Pairs: No idea

I think Skate Canada made a good call to send out people who didn't go to worlds, even completely aside from the mandatory quarantine. It will give those other Nationals contenders a chance to compete internationally for the first time in over a year, and to possibly get new personal best scores, and/or improve their world ranking.

Some countries are sending pretty much their best teams, others have a distinct 4CC in an Olympic season feel to them. And France with nobody to list as a potential substitute in the ladies event... get well soon, Mae!

It looks like Canada haven’t listed any substitutes, is that not a bit risky?
There’s not really much at risk in this competition.

I’d guess that we’re already pretty far down the list of people the fed thinks were ready for international assignments this season.

She may have had time to make a switch. On the whole, lots of big guns in this lineup, all the reigning World Champs.

I haven't heard anything about this. Any info appreciated!
Relevant excerpt re. Bradie's boot problem from the TeamUSA.org article published after the Ladies FS (linked in post #189 of the U.S. Ladies thread):
As she took the ice for her free skate on Friday, it was obvious something was amiss: the boot on her right foot — which she uses to launch her Lutz and flip — was heavily taped. This was not evident during the short, when black tights masked the problem.
“Bradie did have a pair of back-up boots, but the issue was perhaps changing the mounting (of the blades) and having to deal with that under limited practice circumstances,” Tom Zakrajsek, who coaches Tennell in Colorado Springs, relayed via text.
The 23-year-old opened her free skate with a triple Lutz, triple toe loop combination, but the toe was judged under rotated, as were two other triple jumps. She placed eighth in the free, but ninth overall with 197.81 points.
“It is very disappointing, especially at such an important competition,” Tennell said, adding that the entire ankle support area of the boot broke soon after her arrival in Stockholm.
