Papadakis/Cizeron #8 - Oh Lover Hold On

They could do both...

If it's a choice because they can't do both, then it's a bad choice.

Maybe the French shows don't pay well, I don't know.
Maybe they will be in the middle of some training & choreography plans for next season. Ottawa is a 90 min drive from Mtl and Laval a 15min drive so would not interfere.

Maybe they have an offer from Japan or Korea, which I'm guessing would pay more than the French and Canadian shows. Regardless they need an agent that does more than the bare minimum of booking them for shows produced by his own agency.

Lyon may be rebuilt later on without Zazoui's influence (or her husband who is Didier's main problem IMO). But it'll take time for it to come back full force despite the very good skaters there.
Villard isn't going to be going full force because they do lack ice time to become competitive on the international scene. A sad thing IMO considering what Arribert does with her students.

Isn't ice time a problem in France generally? That's the impression I got from the French skaters' interviews, that there aren't rinks with morning to evening availability like Gadbois. Anyway, I never understood the core problem between Zazoui and Didier but I'm still bitter it ended up destroying a training center that produced the most interesting work during the 2000s.

What does everyone think of this costume combo for the RD? I actually loved the stark elegance of her black dress without that new bit of bling. Her whole look at IdF, including the low wavy ponytail, had an undone sexiness that was modern and refreshing for a tango.

Apparently gabi was having back pains last month that caused them to miss a few days of training.

They must have their reason ... they know what they are doing.

One thing I've noticed in a lot of the skating coverage that I've seen from France this season (not that there's ever much, but there's been a bit more than usual) is that Gabi and Guillaume seem to have been taking a deliberate step back and letting Vanessa and Morgan take precedence, which I actually thought was really nice of them. They're five-time European champions, fine, but by this point that's practically expected. Vanessa and Morgan are the first French pairs team to win Euros since the 1930s. They're the big story of this season. If they win Worlds they'll be an even bigger one. Maybe Gabi and Guillaume are stepping back from the tour to let Vanessa and Morgan headline it, goodness knows they've earned top spot after what they've achieved in the past three seasons.

According to Chafik Besseghier, they don't. :(

I also think that they had so much attention and media last year which must have been overwhelming. I remember how exhausted they were by worlds. I think this year they are focusing on the skating and not doing as many interviews and shows. I am sure once we get closer to the olympics there will be much more coverage. In the nbc interview they also said "We’re not into marketing". I think unlike many other people/teams they are doing it more for the love of the art and sport rather than publicity and money. Of course they need to do shows to support themselves but I don't see them being a team that is overly involved in sponsorships and the media outside of skating after they retire.

Lyon is not "destroyed", it's just that Olivier Schoenfelder doesn't have the same results as Haguenauer. Lyon is finished because Haguenauer left. Lyon is now in Canada and profiting to Canadian ice dance. End of story.

but haguenauer in canda is not producing anywhere near the quality of content as when in lyon.

He doesn't say they only have but they have at least three seasons left. So there is still hope.
i don't see them skating past the next Olympics, Gadbois greatest pride after that will be to make Lajoie and Lagha the the top in the next quadrennial a team they are building from the ground up, Romain seems very close to them always the one travelling with them even Patrice sees them as future world champions.

How come you are always such a happy (canadian?) soul? ... We'll see. You may be right and Romain will surely guide many other successful teams in the future. My guess is though that he has and will always have a special connection with Gabi and Guillaume with whom he has worked since they were children.

This is the second time Romain has said "at least" so fingers crossed.

This is the most interesting part, I'm gonna quote the Google translated verson:

"They propose things not necessarily in (the line) of what the international committee would like, rather slow music, which could be very boring for most couples, but that they manage to transcend, it is their strength ", explains the coach of the Clermont duo.

International judges often say that they do not want other couples to take music like Gabriella and Guillaume, because if they are of lower quality, they do not have their level of expression or are not in their world, it will be very painful...", he continues.

Sounds like they (as in their coaches) may have discussed with judges whether sticking to their style would eventually become a handicap.

Gilles and Poirier seem to be bucking the trend though their Vincent program was not obvious dance music you can skate too but they succeeded in their own way a program that could have easily been suited for P&C.

Them or another Canadian team like Bronsard/Bouaraguia. I just watched some junior videos of Virtue/Moir and they were something else than L/L...

It feels like such a wait for the ID competition to start. The camera angles seem a bit distant probably due to the size of the arena, so I'm more worried about not getting great video than about anything else.

Actually Technically Lajoie and Lagha were more consistent Scott was prone to make mistakes like at junior worlds in 2005 , they proved they could skate good latin programs, but Lajoie and Lagha with their warsaw concerto already proved to being great classical skaters which Virtue and Moir did not prove until Mahler.
