Before the JGP season actually gets underway in August (and individual competition threads are started in the Kiss & Cry section), here's a discussion thread for those interested in discussing potential skaters (all countries), both new and returning.

The seven events of the ISU Junior Grand Prix of Figure Skating are:

I'm also wondering if the following will return, or move up: Yelim Kim, Anastasia Gulyakova, Anastasia Gubanova.

I don't expect Yelim Kim to move up for the JGP. With Eunsoo moving up, Yelim is top two in juniors for Korea. Korea has a full slate of 14 spots on the JGP; and despite finishing 2nd at Senior Nationals in 2017 and earning a Junior World berth that year, Yelim hasn't yet been to Junior Worlds due to an injury that season. Has an excellent shot of going this season, and she & Young You could combine to earn 2-3 spots for Korea at Junior Worlds the following season. Plus only one senior spot at Worlds for Korea and already Dabin, Hanul, and Eunsoo fighting for it. I think it would make sense for Yelim to take another crack at establishing herself in the junior ranks before joining that battle. (Though, of course, she'll be a senior at nationals again so if she won, she could plausibly go to Senior Worlds).

I am in a holding pattern for Stephen as this year he is in the midst of his growing and so gets growing pains as the bones get longer but the muscles etc take longer to catch up. This is painful and he is not allowed to jump at all if he is feeling any pain and even in a period without any pain he is limited to only a short period to practice quads. He has them all (except axel) but doing them alone and doing them consistently in a program r diff. things. His health will always come first so whatever happens happens. As well I don't think this yr junior men are allowed to put a quad in the short which he was doing last yr...in combination with a triple and on it's own.So I am so happy he is finally old enough to compete internationally but I am not too invested yet in results.

I'm really surprised that Canada isn't appear to be assigning Joseph Phan to Vancouver, putting him in Lithuania and Czechia. I assumed most of the top Canadians would be in Vancouver and Joseph seemed to be a shoo-in. I guess Gogolev will be the top guy for Canada in Vancouver, as Orzel has been given both of his assignments as well.

She is not a skating fan, although she enjoys it whenever she sees it while flipping channels. She will probably ask which one is Michelle Kwan. I hope that those around me don’t roll their eyes too hard. lol

Someone posted on Goldenskate that for the men, it was only the top 2. So that's why I wondered if he still could get one.
