Tessa Virtue & Scott Moir # 47: Come What May...

I hate cheating in any sport and I am just going to enjoy the skating. I disagree that V&M should discuss it as it won’t do any good. Didier should have been banned with that scandal though but thank goodness he didn’t get to be the ISU president.
 
Um, how much credibility do we give TSL's sources? Because given what they've just said, I think we're on the brink of Salt Lake City 2.0

The Skating Lesson. Essentially, Russia is furious about Canada getting bronze in Pairs (god knows why, their program was an abomination). Are threatening 'hell to pay' for Canada in Dance- they're apparently going to tag team big time with France in retaliation.

I’d like to believe there is no truth to this and the judging is fair. I absolutely hate stories like this and I don’t understand why the ISU hasn’t cleaned up their act since SLC. It does such a disservice to all the skaters who are caught up on this P/C included. Ugh. A part of me is glad V/M are retiring after this because it is just too hard to be a fan of this sport. I’ll gladly go back to being a 4 year fan.

Omg like they can get away with that shit..they can't screw V&M out of gold simply because they feel robbed of bronze in pairs lmao the fact this is now KNOWN too makes it even more obvious if they do that lol

So they are basically ADMITTING this before the event? Aren't they screwed then if they cheat & have low marks for V&M?

Also how do we know a Russian is even on the panel of judges for the IE, have the judges been announced yet?

Which is why I asked how credible he is. He's got some stuff right before but it seems completely unbelievable to me that officials would be walking around openly threatening to fix scores. That's the most brazen thing I've ever heard.

I believe that in a second. And say about David Lease whatever you want, he just did a long interview with Meagan Duhamel, so he has his contacts. DL also tweeted about " Russian officials who go around saying this in public...even to Canadians", so maybe he even heard it from Meagan Duhamel.

I was so positive during the week but now I'm pretty sure that it's already decided. So, I'll just enjoy this SD and Tessa and Scott. With regards to figure skating, I just give up. I'll continue going to ice shows and dance shows and will focus on sport disciplines without judging.
 
I mean, if all of this is true, sources can corroborate it, and V/M go clean, the Russians are bloody stupid because they've all but set themselves up for a scandal.

Very true, I think the RUS & FRA judges were always low balling V&M even last year but they still won..

They've always voted together, across multiple disciplines. It's just that it's (allegedly) being openly said that took me completely aback.

it's just better. Everyone is going to pay attention now. The problem is Russia is not just Russia. Did you see how BS were scored in the TE compared to the Shibs even without a russian or french judge on the panel?
I hope hope hope to see USFSA and SC come together because the last thing I wanna see is PC taking gold and BS taking bronze. That's my nightmere.

I am gonna predict it's very possible they decide so not to look too corrupt they have to give the SD edge to V&M..so they go into the FD leading but ONLY by around a point over P&C that way they can give the FD to P&C & it doesn't look as bad as having them win both portions again..:rolleyes:

But they will probably just give them the SD too, even though that SD is no where NEAR V&M's SD..its laughable..although Tessa & Scott did not skate the SD as good as they have recently at the GPF..
 
Didier’s shenanigans long predate Salt Lake (and I’m not even someone who thought the Canadians should have won). Let’s go back to the 1990s when he made up a story about Surya Bonaly’s birth origins. Fantastical and borderline racist. And when you hear him talk about it now, he laughs about it.

I’m also perplexed as to why the Russians would be upset about the bronze in pairs when their pair very obviously bombed. But maybe they are upset about the fact that they have not medaled at all in individual figure skating. And the absence of any medal at all in pairs, given their long line of champions, must really hurt.

Me too. Just let them all skate. No games, no rumours, no hate. It's hours away and it is what it is. I hope for great skates for the whole field. I want to focus on what a joy it is to watch these dancers at an OG and marvel at how amazing the programs are. And I have not given up on V/M for a second, and I will not.
 
Yes I highly doubt that Russians are running around threatening revenge. It’s pretty easy to use the word “sources”. Unless there is a replica of the same situation as SLC where a judge admitted she cheated (that will never happen again) this all comes off as whining.
