Who is this Jean-Christophe? Y'all know I loves me my Carolina... but the gold? She aint beat Med or Zag yet.....

anywhooooo... fun predictions. As per usual I agree with this Sarah Brannen to THE T! Although I puts me Nathan in first. Otherwise this chick is my twin....

Next I agree with is Lynn Rutherford and then Nick McCarvel.

It's interesting how the experts unanimously put Medvedeva ahead of Zagitova and only one put V/M ahead of P/C, despite everyone pointing out that these will be close battles. I'll be happy if these predictions are accurate, because Med and P/C are who I root for, but I suspect that in reality the chances are about 50/50 in ice dance and 40/60 in ladies (where I give the edge to Zagitova). I'd also say that the pairs bronze will be a bit more open with T/M and hopefully J/C in the mix.

I think Boyang Jin will make the podium, and there's no way Carolina's going to win. Her jumping content is watered down compared to many other competitors, and I'm tired of seeing her medal with errors. Maybe these people made their predictions before Jin won Four Continents.

Nick's predictions are generally my favorite. Fingers crossed that he's the one who ends up being right -- except for his dance bronze prediction. :D

ETA: No, scratch that. Lynn's are my favorite, although I think Hanyu is a long shot.

I'm jumpy as a rabbit now that it's about to start -- can you tell?

I think the ladies is 60/40 or even 70/30 in favor of Medvedeva. Despite the Europeans result if both skate cleanly Medvedeva has atleast a 50/50 shot to win, and of course she is far more likely to skate cleanly on top of that. Her Europeans LP was sort of clean but not her best while Zagitova skated out of her skin. Kostner's bloated PCS for a poor skate also forced Zagitova's PCS higher than she deserved and closed the PCS gap to Medvedeva. Medvedeva would have won the Europeans SP without her double axel miss and the whole result might have been different in the end there, even with Zag. skating out of her skin, especialy as Medvedeva probably would have been a bit more relaxed and skated better only needing a 155ish to win rather than a 160. And Medvedeva is far more consistent and likely to skate clean than Zagitova to who only did that once all season.

I agree the pairs bronze is a bit more open but I highly doubt James & Cipres are in the mix. I think Tarsasova & Morozov are actually more likely than Duhamel & Radford, I think the picks are NA biased to have almost everyone going with D&R. I think the Russian #3 (now #2 with Stolbova & Klimov) and Zhang and his partner unfortunately have an outside shot at it too, not James & Cipres though, they have none.

My wife and I don't usually trust "experts."
You keep mentioning your wife so often that I start wondering whether she exist at all. Or it may be that you need to mention her because you don’t use your own brain and therefore if she says something, you need to repeat it as a fact.

That's funny, my wife told me last weekend that she was so annoyed with me that she wished I didn't exist! But we get on each others nerves when we argue about skating, or who's turn it is to buy dog food. She tells me I take things too literal and don't have a sense of humor, but I think that is silly.

But she is real, her name is Bonnie and she has a large collection of pant suits.

Back to topic, I am still not "liking" these predictions!

Oh, really? Tell us about your wife.

Well, here I am, you can question my existence or not. And my husband and I are of one brain, as God intended. We are truly MFOE. A nice poster here even gave us our own hashtag. #galusteegan

And of course, I get annoyed at him from time to time. But I think that since I get annoyed at our dog, I'm allowed to get annoyed at my husband too, right?

Now, on topic of skating. I also do not "like" these predictions. For one thing, we learned last night from NBC that Israel is a medal contender in the Team Event and no one predicted them for a medal.

That doesn't prove much, does it? All it shows is that Stasia...etc is able to open multiple accounts. :p

FACT. CHECK.

Klimova/Ponomarenko won bronze, silver and gold in 84, 88 and 92.
Another FACT. CHECK.
It will actually be V&M's 4th Oly medal (I don't know where your quote came from but am assuming it's talking about the team event)

If both teams skate clean in dance, I don't believe the chances are 50/50, because the winner will then be who the judges subjectively prefer, and I believe that choice has already been made clear. Akin to what Lynn wrote.

My quote came from the article that is linked in the first post of this thread, and they are talking about individual medals.

The pairs picks by all the experts are also horrible. Tarasova & Morozov will medal, and have a shot at gold. They look really sharp. I cant see them falling below bronze, and they could be better.
