Stolbova and Klimov Thread

Pair girls are just a different breed of athlete. To skate like that after such a freak/hard fall on something as common as a cross over is spectacular. She completed that throw and sbs pass like a boss. Fedor was great too lol

They are so well trained until it didn’t even effect her, or Him

If you fall on a crossover, I don't think you're going to get a high mark on skating skills.

It depends how good you are, and they are the best Pair when it comes to that. Should the mark be lower? Probably, but how much should that cost, considering you already do receive a -1 deduction for the fall. I think in their case should be lower, but starting from a high mark. Apparently, I am not the only one who think that cause not counting the Russian judge, the Canadian, Italian and Cinese judge gave them low 9's. Furthermore, a 0 for the throw and 1 for the sbs jump? Really?

They were fabulous. Too bad that fall :(

I think Chris on Eurosport was right, her edge was too deep and on the turn/corner she just went down. Speaking about deep edges and SS. lol

I find the AUS judge the most hilarious of them all. Not just with S&K, although it would seem she hate their guts. :slinkaway
Check out her PCS scores for all Pairs and the comparison.

The good thing though is that S&K looked stronger in their elements and performance today, despite the silly fall. They can continue build on that and improve with each competition till the Oly comes. I just want two clean skates from them. :saint:

The throw deserved at least a +1 for difficult entry - a bone shaking fall just seconds before it

Seriously, how they got up, took two steps (and got up to speed) and did the throw. I honestly thought she was going to pop it because of the huge delay on the first rotation, and then she pulled right in and rotated the rest of it

It's because she's Stolbova and nobody leaves her in a corner.

I want them to medal, but I am afraid they are not going to get reputation marks like the other pairs would. They will have to skate clean and others would have to make mistakes (I hope that won't be T&M because I really like them).

Yeah no, I don't think they are getting a medal here either. At best bronze but it's going to be difficult. As you said, others have to make mistakes as well. Right now though I just want them to skate clean. I think winning RN and Europeans, heading to the Olympics, is much more important than medaling here.

Ikr? :biggrinbo Kudos to Fedor as well for keeping calm.
I noticed on the re-watch that he didn't rush the throw and he was steady while lunching her. If you watch the program starting from that throw you wouldn't suspect that anything happened. They didn't let the fall affect their performance. Not one bit. :respec:

I love Stol/Klim but I don't think they'll win RuNat and certainly not Europeans. Their twist simply isn't as good as Tar/Mor. They can be equal on everything else, but if both are clean, Tar/Mor wins because they'll simply earn more points. Same against Savchenko at Europeans. But, I also never picked them to win silver in Sochi and they came out guns blazing and when S/S made a mistake they were right there to capitalize on it. So, I hope they focus on being squeaky clean and being in that position again. I don't think the Chinese are infallible as they clearly proved in the SP at the GPF. I'm not going to worry about medals and just watch them skate. I fear they'll quit competing after the Olympics or possibly worlds (I would dearly love to see them with a Worlds title) because neither of them really like competing. Their injuries have kept them from so much, but it is what it is. I take whatever I can get.

Oh yes, I forgot about S&M at the Europeans. As for T&M I think they can beat them with the long, if they are clean. But yeah, I will take whatever I can get as well. It's just that it's frustrating to see such a fine pair never win the world title, nor Europeans. Those damn injuries really hold them back in the last 2 seasons.

It royally sucks that Ksenia and Fedor seem to be the unluckiest pair ever (is there a medal for that?) but they are the toughest people I know and if anyone can do it, it's them. The throw scared me to death but she nailed it like only Her Majesty can! I agree the SP score was too low; Sui/Han fell and their PCS were huge. Sad S/K didn't medal but they were only half a point from bronze - it's not completely out of the question that they could medal at the Olympics!!!

I'm doing a video of S&K SP. I would like your help and decide which one is better in your opinion.
I haven't cut anything, except changing the music. I have to add some special effects, but I would like to know which one you think fits better with the choreo.

1. http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x6bgk96
2. http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x6bgkmp

I liked the first one better. Nice job of deleting the fall, and I prefer this music to Pesame Mucho, which I never cared for.

Thank you for your input, Vash. :) I also think the first music fits better. But I like both pieces, so I was undecided.
I used the video from NHK. So I didn't have to delete anything. :D
I don't care for Besame Mucho either. It's a pity cause I love the choreo.

Awesome, @Amantide! You're great at this! My dream program for them is Moulin Rouge - " Roxanne" and "The Show Must Go On" for sure, not sure what other music cuts...

I am so upset and disgusted by the actions of the IOC, so close to the games that will result in NO STOLBOVA AND KLIMOV. It honestly really makes the Pairs event a non event for me. I'll be watching and supporting Nathan and Mirai (and Med b/c I want to see her win the OGM), but this has really tarnished the Olympics for me this year. Not to mention poor Stepanova and Bukin.

@Lovemyvike I honestly can't even verbalize how it makes me feel (well actually I have, in a long series of Twitter rants lol). If they had proof, that would be different, but it seems like the IOC is just pointing fingers randomly IMO. I mean maybe it's true but they should at least show us some positive samples before anyone gets banned.
