I pad help!

I have an iPad Air 2 and this morning the keyboard (screen) has either been overly responsive or not at all. I have changed no settings and it was fine last night. Any help appreciated! This took me twice as long as usual to type! :angry:

@SHARPIE Try a complete power off. Hold the home and power buttons until you see the slider. Wait 5 secs, then power on. That may be enough to fix it. Also, check to make sure you haven't accidentally enabled some of the accessibility features.

I have had a horribly misbehaving keypad for months. After many back and forths with my sister (a computer genius who unfortunately lives four hrs away) it seemed my best choice was to make an appt at an Apple store to get it fixed. I just havent had time to do it. You can google the problem but I think there is a real defect that needs fixing.

Mr Mac says it sounds like your digitizer so you need to take it Apple. Also, if it's not under warranty, it's not worth fixing.

It seems to be behaving itself again today.
I'm not sure what the warranty is on it, I've had it around 18 months now.

Apple only warranties their products for a year out of the box unless you buy AppleCare. So if it is a recurring issue and you need to take it in to get fixed you probably are better off buying a new one. Unless there is someplace that can fix it cheaper for you. Since it's presumably out of warranty it's not going to matter if you take it in to an Apple store or go to a 3rd party to get it fixed.

I found the solution to my keyboard problem, @SHARPIE - maybe by a miracle it will solve yours too. I was on the phone with Apple Tech Support (who are pretty good and easy to reach, btw) when I saw that I had "Predictive" turned on in my keyboard settings (under Settings - General). Also turned on was Assistive Touch under General - Accessibility. I don't remember ever turning those on so they may be default settings. I turned both of them off. Autocorrect was already off because it's an annoyance. My problem disappeared, woo hoo! Good luck with yours.

ETA: I've narrowed the troublemaker down to "Predictive" - turns out I do need Assistive Touch to turn the iPad on and off as its impenetrable protective cover covers the power button. And AT is not causing any difficulty.

I have iPad Air, I have Predictive switched on and never have had any problem with keypad. Weird.

Mine is an iPad Air too. I cannot explain, I can only report. My keypad continues to be calm and well-behaved.
