Got a negative opinion that you can’t express without enduring scorn from others? Enjoy something that those around you only complain about or mock? Come in here to the unpopular opinions thread! I’ve seen one in the Trash Can before, but I know we all have strong opinions that aren’t skating related. So here we go… :biggrinbo

I don’t like Adele, especially her top songs. She reminds me of that friend who’s still whining about her petty, melodramatic breakup way after she should have moved on.

Some of the rudest people I’ve met are from Canada. I worked retail in northern Minnesota and many Canadians would come to shop because Minnesota doesn’t tax most clothing. Several of my worst customer ever stories are courtesy of Canadians, and I honestly wanted to ask some of them to act more stereotypically. I have, however, also met many lovely Canadians. :)

Star Wars is so effing boring.

Babies are annoying and ugly. Sure, they might grow into wonderful people, but in the meantime? :blah:

I don’t agree with the idea that everyone should vote just for the sake of voting. Do your research and know why you’re voting for something/someone or don’t do it.

I’m a young, straight woman, but I don’t find Ryan Gosling attractive. On a related note, I wish he’d jumped off that ferris wheel in The Notebook and saved me the trouble of watching the rest of that insipid movie.

It goes this way.

Even though I’m in the midst of some struggles, I love my college classes and will miss academics when I’m done.

I love wearing socks to bed. Who wants cold feet?

Winter is the best season! Christmas, snow, coziness, skating… :swoon:

There are a lot of bands worse than Nickleback. I still like some of their songs. :shuffle:

Opening with a confession that I don’t like Adele and closing with admitting that I don’t mind Nickleback is surely a good way to kick off an unpopular opinions discussion. Have at it!

I think people who complain about something...which pretty much everybody else complains about to be vapidly annoying.

Example: "Kim Kardashian is... (enter a negative comment here)". Umm...DUHH!! Whenever someone starts a sentence with, "Kim Kardashain is..." I know I'm about to have to listen to an idiot say idiotic things.

Nickelback is a great band.

Gwyneth Paltrow is fantastic.

I like Laurel on Arrow.

I liked Paolo and Niki on Lost. Loved the ending.

I pay everything on credit card, if possible.

I love hipsters.

Drinking diet pop isn't the worst thing in the world.

Homerism is great.

Network TV is fine for me.

No sports announcers annoy me.

Outlet malls are fun!

Working out in a gym is fun!

I find football and baseball thoroughly uninteresting. (I am, in fact, American. Born in Pittsburgh.)

I don't like Adele either and, though I love Charlie & Meryl, was disappointed that they skated to her whiny self-absorbed "Someone Like You."

I like Adele; but don't like her music. Every song is pretty much the same.

Perfectionists are annoying. And boring. Imperfect and flawed is SO much more fun.

Super popular movies, TV shows, music, fashion, and books are generally not interesting to me. Not a trend/fad person.

Meryl Davis is pretty in profile, but straight on, she is odd looking.

I love Piper Gilles style. And her skating.

Peeps are disgusting. As is coffee yogurt.

Passive aggressive is a perfectly acceptable character trait. Some days, it's the only weapon I have.

Probably the complete opposite of what most people would like:

Summer is my least favorite season. I dread the heat.

I don't like the beach. I find sand everywhere, even a week later. The sun makes me feel like i'm roasting alive.

I don't like cell phones. Never owned one, never used one and never want to be attached to one.

Had a friend but can't stand that they market their daughter by having her sing in bars at age 12. They want her to be the next big star. I can't even talk to them anymore. All of our mutual friends think it's great.

People with cats or dogs - your house smells like cats or dogs. Of course you don't smell it, you live there.

Red velvet cake. It's so gross with all that red dye.

I don't like mystery novels. At all.

I think Ben Affleck is a good actor.

I like Christmas in July and all of the early holiday hoopla. I like to see stores decorated.

I've lived my life on the Great Plains. When I take a vacation in the mountains at some point I feel too closed in among big trees and feel relieved to be back on flat land with a wide open skyline.

Sometimes I would rather have peanut butter. (instead of anything)

Big booty---wwwaaayyyy overrated imho. Give me a nice, athletic bump but J-Lo or Kim? NO.

I don't care how hot the guy is--I don't like Speedos.

The Game of Thrones Books: I was repulsed. Why? Because he creates this world where the girls are ready for sex at a very young age. It was his world. He didn't have to do that. Blech. They are older in the tv series.

I can't imagine living my life following folks on Twitter or Facebook or anything else. Too much time...

Reading posts on youtube or facebook about people who HATE this and HATE that... WHY are you spending so much time on things you don't like? You might as well have LOSER tattoed on your forehead in the biggest and boldest possible letters.

Yep this one

Yes, we can complain about many things but ... . Once I read something that if you complain too much these bad feelings can come back to you. :(

So I try to stay positive. :)

I don’t like Adele, especially her top songs. She reminds me of that friend who’s still whining about her petty, melodramatic breakup way after she should have moved on.

If you don't like Adele, don't listen. Put on other singers.

On the positive side they buy merchandise, so it's good for business.

Star Wars is so effing boring.

You don't have to watch it. Instead watch Disney movies or comedies.

Babies are annoying and ugly. Sure, they might grow into wonderful people, but in the meantime? :blah:

You don't like babies. No problem, you can adopt a teenager.

I don’t agree with the idea that everyone should vote just for the sake of voting. Do your research and know why you’re voting for something/someone or don’t do it.

You don't have to vote but don't complain about the government (or the ruling party).

So this is my way to go through my life. :)

I don't actually think Cizeron is the hottest thing on earth. I like him as a skater, but that's all.

I dislike all reality shows. The only time I ever watch is when skaters are on DWTS.

I am bored with superhero movies, and I dislike movies about con men, mafia men, gunmen, and assassins. (This eliminates probably 50% of movies or more.)

On TV, I generally don't like cop shows, forensic investigator shows, or drug dealer shows. (This eliminates probably 50% of shows.) Although I do like Brooklyn 9-9, because it's funny, and because it has women and characters of color.

I love 70s disco music. (But, in the end, didn't love Marchei/Hotarek's disco LP.)

I dislike Beyonce. There are a number of things that bug me about her.

ETA: Also, sushi has no appeal for me and I'm bewildered at how popular it is!!

I loathe coffee in every form, including the smell.
Red wine too.

I haven't seen any of this new generation of superhero movies, don't care.

I do not understand the appear of Justin Timberlake or his music at all.

I do not understand the appear of Justin Timberlake or his music at all.

On his own I agree with you, but I think he's a fantastic collaborator in that he makes other artists sound their very best without making it all about him.

With Rebe McEntire
With Rihanna
With Chris Stapleton

To stay on topic - I don't like beer (and I'm Canadian!), I don't like coffee, and I don't like chocolate. Gimme spirits, tea and something salty any day :)

The way you feel about Adele (Who I am not a big fan of either) is the way I felt when Alanis Morrisette's Jagged Little Pill album came out. I just couldn't understand all my friends loving it while all I could think is this girl needs to move on and get a life!

And there really is nothing attractive about Ryan Gosling - I have never seen any of his movies because I can't stand the way he looks!

I have never understood the appeal of collecting handbags - way too much work to transfer everything - in fact until I became a mom I didn't carry a purse at all!

I've lived my life on the Great Plains. When I take a vacation in the mountains at some point I feel too closed in among big trees and feel relieved to be back on flat land with a wide open skyline.

Totally agree. Mountains make me claustrophobic after awhile.

We're probably heading for the Rockies for vacation this year (Yay! We can afford a cheap vacation!!! First time in three years!), and I will enjoy it for awhile and then be ready to be back in our wide open spaces.

Ooh, I have another one, jadingirl mentioned handbags...

WTF is the deal with Louis Vuitton bags? They are UGLY. Why anyone would pay $1000 or more to walk around with a logo emblazoned all over their bag is beyond me.
Being able to let people know that you have enough disposable cash to waste on an ugly, overpriced handbag?

My unpopular opinions:

I don't like coffee
I don't like yogurt
Not everyone likes animals
I like ebooks

Example: "Kim Kardashian is... (enter a negative comment here)". Umm...DUHH!! Whenever someone starts a sentence with, "Kim Kardashain is..." I know I'm about to have to listen to an idiot say idiotic things.

I hate the fact that I know way too much about the Kardashians without every seeing an episode of their show or reading anything off the internet.

I don't like coffee and don't get the Adele hype either. I don't dislike her, I just don't think she's as good as people make her out to be.
And I really don't like Smart Phones or any equivalent. I find them too big and they have way too many apps/features which I'll never ever use or need (and the one feature I would like my phone to have, it doesn't - the alarm going off when it's switched off)

Hmm, seeing few crossovers into "pet peeve" territory here -- i.e., opinions that aren't in any way unpopular or uncommon. Oops, will that make me unpopular? :p

Ok, some from me:

I think the Godfather movies are massively over-rated.

I don't like hockey. At all. Try saying that out loud when you're Canadian.

Blue, Kokanee, Canadian, Coors, Miller, and all those other mass-produced lagers taste exactly the same. Somewhat akin to dishwater.

Babies are not adorable. Not even when they're not crying. Nor are they "miracles."

ETA: Rome is highly unpleasant city to visit. It's dirty and crowded, and everywhere smells strongly of urine.

Oh, and while we're talking cities, I like Glasgow over Edinburgh. Edinburgh is nice to do once, for the top attractions, but Glasgow is a much better city to visit again and again.

Ditto for Toronto over Montreal.
